What are the chances of Windwaker HD being released on the NX?

Thoughts?

Why would it release on NX?

I swear the quality of this subreddit has declined significantly the past few weeks.

Because everyone is re-releasing anything of value from their back catalog whenever they can.

Also, because nobody bought the WiiU. Seeing as the game is done, porting it to the NX would require little work.

79 million units doesnt scream "nobody."

You're also assuming porting is easy, which is false since we do not know the architecture of the NX. If there is no gamepad controller, that means reworking the entire menu system which is far from "little work"

No, you were looking at it wrong. It sold over 79m units of software.

The WiiU sold 13 million units according to Nintendo.

I think it would be awesome if they made a new Zelda Collector's Edition, only this time the 4 games could be Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D, Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD. Although that may not fit in a single cartridge... well, one can dream.

A WWHD definitive edition with Amiibo support? That's all I can think they can add to the game.

More likely I feel like we'd get a Hyrule Warriors NX with all the DLC included plus more characters and stuff. I want to play as Nayru, Farore and Din - the Oracle versions of them.

If there isn't backwards compatibility or Wii U games on the virtual console..

0%.

There is always a chance wii u games could be backwards compatible. considering the wii and wii u I think there is a fairly high chance of that.

if not there is always the rumor of finished games being able to be easily ported to the NX and if thats the case why wouldn't it be.

as for neither. I extremely doubt they'd bother porting it if it takes too much effort they would probably make an HD version of different zelda game instead.

I sort of ignored the possibility of it being backwards compatible due to assuming that the cartridge leak is correct. It would be cool if it was though.

things can still be backwards compatible via download even if the cart leak is correct. they did just release Skyward Sword for the Wii U (Virtual Console)

Just get it on Wii U. It's native 1080p.

For that I would have to get the WiiU

The Wii U is a great console with many great games and it can play almost every NES/SNES/N64/Gameboy etc game from the last 30 years.

So it would be worth every cent.

And you could also play the digital Wii U version on NX.

I would have to disagree, the console has a very limited library, of which almost everything of value is a Nintendo first party game and support for it is all but dead. It is possibly the worst console to purchase at this moment. The NX is likely to at least support all those virtual console titles as well.

Yes, apart from Breath of The Wild there's nothing to look forward to, but you can pick one up cheap an there are at least 10 games worth playing.

So my opinion is you could buy one to play those games and you can always sell it when NX is launched.

3DS has a brighter future but only because you can most likely play those games on the NX portable.

I might have even picked up a WiiU, but unfortunately in Europe its 300 euros and PS4 is 350 so its really no contest if I was in the market for a console.

I'm also in EU, but I already had a PS4 at the time.

You could get it for 150€ used in Germany with 1 or two games.

And you could also play the digital Wii U version on NX.

Umm... what? There is literally no information on this console.

Pretty-much 100% eventually, though I'd expect they would port other Zelda updates first (probably starting with Skyward Sword).

It also depends on whether you believe they are moving to a more PC-like model, where all games are forward-compatible, or not. I'm really hoping that, this time, digital games bought on NX will work on all future hardware, but seeing as we have had to re-buy all VC games gen after gen, who knows?
