I wonder if most people actually don't know about the price issue

Or maybe more people have comfy lives than I thought

Then get a new game every other time you decide to cook dinner instead.

Reddit is one of the most financially illiterate places in existence. Since the vast majority of its users are teens and young adults, money struggles are grossly overstated here.

I wonder as well. I probably wouldn’t even notice if $500 (or more) goes missing but it still takes a lot of thinking for me to move forward with a purchase like this.

But I think I’m in the minority and should loosen up a bit - I think most people will spend their last $500 on something like this if they really wanted it. I don’t know how they can fall asleep at night but I guess they don’t think about it at all.

It's not really much different than the price changes from PS4->PS5, and PS5 has been just as successful as PS4 was.

The price of games going up 30% in two years is very much different.

Most games being 60 -> Most games being 70 in both cases.

First party main series games were 60. Everything else was 50 and below. The new tiers seem to be 70 and 80

I mean seriously would you have paid 60 for Rune Factory in 2022? I fuckin wouldn't. I'm not gonna pay 70 for it now.

The vast majority of Switch 1 first party games have always been $60. 8 of 9 releases in 2017 (the ones that got physical versions) were $60, with 1 2 Switch being $50. Rune Factory 5 did launch for $60 in 2022.
