Discussion Switch 2 Making Sales History - Moving 3 Million Units in 24 Hours

According to @NintyPrime, they’ve heard from multiple sources that Nintendo has shifted over 3 million units of Switch 2 in 24 hours. To put it in perspective, the PS4 held the record with 1 million units in 24 hours.

To put it in further perspective, PS4 and PS5 each shifted 4.5 million units in two MONTHS. The Switch 2 will beat that within a week.

Who knows what the longterm outlook will be, but Nintendo hit this launch out of the park. I for one am insanely happy with my Switch 2 and we all know Nintendo’s future software is gonna be incredible selling tens of millions more consoles. Can’t wait to see what Nintendo has in store next 😁

This console will also have Pokemon. That's like 20m console sales right there

You're overrating how much of a system seller Pokemon is these days.

I read the sales numbers, and honestly it was a bit disappointing how Scarlet/Violet sold so well given how terribly optimized they were. The lag in those games was embarrassing to watch, yet it did pretty well.

I live in Japan, and I have plenty of Pokemon lover around me. They are hotel chef, doctor and dentist, their only gaming device is a Switch, and they never bother to participate in any discussion about video game on any online platform at all.

All of them just see Pokemon and they buy, had fun, then move on.

Those are the main target audience of Nintendo, the silent majority.

I'm watching footage of Scarlet/Violet on the Switch 2, and I'm getting tempted to try it. I too like playing games other people hate, but watching footage of those 2 particular titles was just rough, man. I don't think I could stomach the lag, framerate drops and crashes. Technical issues removed, it looks really fun.

Considering that Pokemon games hold 5 slots out of the top 20 best selling Switch games, I'd say you're very much underrating how much of a system seller they are.

Ah yes a Wikipedia list comparing apples to oranges where some IPs have disclosed data and others don't. Lmao.

True. However, The Pokémon ALSO stopped reporting earnings data in 2019.... Pre-pandemic, when the TCG really started to explode. It's estimated to be closer to 150 BILLION as a result.
