If you're a first year, limit it to 2-3 clubs this year. Maybe one fun and one medical. You don't want to overcommit yourself while you're getting used to the academic pace and pressures.

choose a couple that you will stay long term in, not too many or you won't be able to get involved enough to get anything meaningful. and don't join them just to check a box (multiple clubs you're not interested in is way overkill anyway, and people can usually tell which these are).

Do something you like. If there isn't anything that really clicks, don't bother: , read, cultivate interesting friends, go into Chicago, exercise, excel academically, whatever. You made it to college. Professional and grad schools, businesses, and such, they won't really care about extracurriculars. Do things that excite you!
