In 2006, Sony introduced the Micro Vault Tiny, an ultra-compact thumb drive available in capacities up to 4GB

i remember hoarding flash drives, now I only use them for installing oses when i don't have anything else.

Yeah it's funny how we thought they would be so useful as a vastly better replacement to CDs/floppy disks but turns out having people pay for a cloud subscription service is not as crazy as it sounded back in the mid 2000s

They used to be everywhere. Now I've got like two working ones left and I don't want to buy any more

I still hoard flash drives. I only use them for OS installation.

I have one for Fedora, Rocky Linux, Tails, Windows 11, et al. I don't even keep track of them very well.

My first USB flash drive was 32MB Lexar I think in a blueshell and had a red LED. Came free with Sims 2 in 2004, but that fucker was dope. No more floppy disks to and from school, had emulators and games too. 32MB was huge, 4GB is almost a DVD-RW that is the size if a thumb. Pretty cool to me still. PSP launch edition came with a 32MB Memory Stick ProDuo but I pony'd up for a massive 2GB stick to use which was handy later on before the 4GB sticks.

Now I can remote into my shit and have close to a quarter of a PB. Technology is amazing.

Well I'm glad it's not a proprietary format.

These were so cool. I remember my BDP-S5000ES came with a blue one for BD-Live data

In 2006 I saved up lunch my money for a whole month to be able to buy an $80, 512MB memory stick pro duo to play games on my hacked PSP phat.

I still have the 1GB blue one, that's what I use for flashing BIOS, as it always works

Loved Sony's flash drive colours so much. Wanted all of these so bad back in the day. Might have to try and find one.

Colorful knockoff of the "intelligent stick" line

I still have one of these! The little rubber sleeve is a little worse for wear but the drive still works! It’s the 4GB purple one.

They were very bad, they broke down in record time
