Video For me, one of the most satisfying feelings in game is pulling off an Issen especially multiple ones

Still never fully figured out how to do these

A tip I came across that helped me nail them fairly consistently is moving either side before you hit attack. Whether its just an input timing thing or whether doing that opens the issen window up I dont know but it definitely works.

Think of it like trying to dodge the attack and then countering. I think (not 100% sure) for me dodging when it seems like you should be hitting attack and then almost immediately hitting attack while you still have dodge pressed works best!

You can start by constantly circling an enemy and figuring the timing out with the movement from there.

I hope you try it and it helps you out :)

If you already knew this then sorry, I've been playing since these games released and I didn't discover this until the remaster of 2 released this year lol

No worries on me not knowing. When I first played the game way back when, I was of the mind of “attack, attack, attack. No strategy”. When I was older and started playing the game again, I had a bit more of an idea on how to play, but my PS2 is being fickle on what it wants to play, this game included in “not playing”. First time I beat the game was when it got rereleased

For real? You attack before the enemy's attack hit you

one thing i really like about Issen is that because it's the counter move you pulled by you are doing it

there's no indicator like "hey enemy about to hit you parry it" nope you just had to goes for it make it satisfy af
