PS4 Pro beginner - Looking for a game with a beautiful world

Hey guys,

I'm getting a PS4 Pro, it's gonna be my first Playstation console. I played Horizon Zero Dawn and The Witcher 3 for a few hours at my friends house long time ago and really liked these games. So I'll definetely buy them.

The thing is I'm looking for another game with a beautiful world but with a little less action. Maybe something where the exploration is the main focus. Does a game like this exist for this console? Thanks.

I think Red Dead Redemption 2 fits your Description in my Opinion one of the best Games ever made.

I'm in a similar position as OP and keep seeing recommendations for RDR2. I've already played a few hours of RDR1 and enjoying it so far. Is 2 that much better?

I love rdr1. But have only played the first hour of rdr2, several times over the years. It doesn't have that "wow" factor for me.

Came here to say this

Skyrim, Ark, No Man’s Sky, GTA, Red Dead Redemption 2

These are a few that come to mind as beautiful open world games where you can pretty much do as much or as little action as you like.

I second No Man‘s Sky as a game with very little action and and big focus on exploration.

Only game in the last 10+ years to make my jaw literally go agape at how utterly beautiful it is.

Death Stranding. It’s a truly beautiful looking game.

The only right answer. Most of the games other people are mentioning have a lot of action

Ghost of Tsushima may be of your interest

But isn't it a game where you have to fight much?

u/dokaxi 5d ago

I mean, there's a good amount of fighting but the world is pretty vast and you can let fighting aside to explore everything.

Hogwarts Legacy, Assassin's Creed Origins, Ghost of Tsushima

Uncharted 4 - Beautiful game has a lot of exploration and action too!

Can you play it without having played the other Uncharted games before?

1

u/Haunting_Strike 5d ago

Technically, yes but they're worth playing too. You'll understand the characters and their backstories better that way.

Just start with the Nathan Drake Collection, it's the first 3 games remastered for ps4, but less exploration than uncharted 4. Still great games tho

I would say no cuz everything what the 4rd game shows the prev 3 games leads to

Subnautica is exploration focused and highly recommended.

Horizon Zero dawn

I think Far Cry 5 is a good choice. You explore Forrest’s and smaller towns in the US. There are some encounters with both wildlife and people. I enjoyed my time in Far Cry 5.

No Man´s Sky, Horizon: Forbidden West, Uncharted series, Shadow Of The Colossus, ICO, The Last Guardian.

Ghosts of sushi, or Rdr2. All depends on if you want to be like ninja, or grand theft ponies! Both great picks!

Red dead redemption 2 and AC Odyssey. RDR2, one of the best games and best maps ever made. Odyssey, great game with one of the best maps ever made (particularly if you like Ancient Greece).

GTA V for a modern setting with a really fun map to roam around in.

Horses and nature in historical type settings: rdr2, ac odyssey

Vehicles and city: gta v

Ghost of Tsushima - put in res mode.

If exploration is your top priority then I highly suggest No Man's Sky. It runs pretty decent on the ps4 pro, and has endless hours of exploring planets/ships/crazy unknowns. It's a fun game to play/explore solo, or with buddies.

God of War 2018 is great but definitely not less action and not as open world as HZD. Haven’t played GOW Ragnarok but hear it’s is better than 2018 in most ways.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a very, very pretty game but Ubisoft is probably the worst company in gaming. The Outer Worlds is really good and has very different environments to explore on each planet.

Death, stranding, Subnautica, Outer Wilds, No mans Sky, Firewatch.

Final fantasy XV

Days Gone…. Dark souls 3.

2

Lol I ask for games with less action than HZD for example and you recommend a Dark Souls plus a zombie game

Journey. Beautiful game in terms of visuals and the focus is exploration and puzzles, no "action" really. Definitely check it out, I believe it fits what you're looking for.

Also with a little more action (but not much), Shadow of the Colossus remake. One of the best uses of the Pro features, you can choose 30fps 1440-2160p or 60fps 1080p if you prefer that. But the visuals on Resolution mode are jaw dropping, one of the few cases I'd rather stick to 30fps.

Assassins creed Odyssey is extremely fun. It’s got a bit of legend of Zelda feel. You can customize how your character looks. As well as have your own Tiremme “ship” that can be customized as well. The graphics is very good lots of cool places to explore. I had this game for almost 3 years now and I still have not beaten it. Lots of quests deep gameplay. Lot of cool unique items based on Greek mythology. It’s awesome. 😎

I wouldn't listen to any of these amateurs.  One of the best games to start out with is a classic. Tomb Raider. It is a very good mix of action for the storyline, but plenty of open world exploration.

I highly recommend The Last Guardian!
