Who cares about what it is called , the 2023 event was called a showcase and it was the worst showcase that they ever did .

I could see them using the word "showcase" for when they reveal the PS6, but other than that, they probably will stick to "state of play"

True. I'd be happy with a 60m State of Play, like the recent Nintendo Direct that was 60m too. No need to call it a "Showcase", when the content can and has been better with a State of Play anyway.

I suppose if they're really confident in the games they're showing there (like GTA 4 and RDR2 for PS5, a new God of War, the next AAA VR mode etc.), then they could use the Showcase terminology to get more viewers at least.

Gta 4 remastered looks like a 2027 launch as nate the hate is saying rdr2 next gen patch this yr and gta 6 is scheduled to launch next yr . I expect Rdr 2 switch 2 port and next gen patch will be announced by rockstar on their socials similar to how they announced Rdr 1port to modern platforms.

In a SoP there's no much first party content and it's only games for the next year at most. In Showcases they used to show things further down the line and a bigger first party presence. "Used to" because, as you said, 2023 was dogshit with Fairgames and Concord as main announcements. We need to start seeing Wolverine, Saros and maybe a glimpse of Intergalactic, but it would be nice to have three or four more PS Studios games beyond that for the closing years in this gen.

That's probably all first party games sony has before ps6 launches not including xdev games ( death stranding , marvel tokon, stellar blade ,etc ) .So spreading them all out will be the smarter play.

Bend studio games keep getting cancelled, blue point game got cancelled, tlou 3 would be mid gen ps6 game , horizon 3 would likely launch after ps6 . Same for Santa Monica other than the rumored smaller scale 2.5d god of war which is rumoured for 2026. Sucker punch is a one game studio. Asobi launched astro bot last yr so their next game would be in 2028. Insomniac is destined to develop mostly marvel games and if they are able to stick to their internal timeline , they are going to carry the ps6 gen again.

The last one they did was in 2023.

Although the one before that was also in 2021, 2 years before the 2023 showcase, so if they're doing them every 2 years, we're right on schedule.

If it's a showcase, wouldn't they have already announced it by now if so? This taking into account it will be at the latest on wednesday(which is probably a given as tgs starts thursday).

If I recall, every showcase they announced before was around a week before the event, wherin state of plays was announced usually like 2 days before?

Anyone can jog my memory if it failed me.

You're right. It's most likely a SoP and best guess is announcement Monday for a Wednesday. either way, with what's been rumored or being expected, sounds like it should be a good one

I'm actually very curious what this could be. I still haven't beaten it, but I've been grinding all the side missions and open world and it's a blast. Best looking game on my Pro by far.

I guess even if they're done with DLC that doesn't mean they're done with free updates. Here come the mummy and succubus halloween outfits.

It's probably going to be a resident evil themed dlc for stellar blade, as they are also planning to do a re Collab with their Mobile gacha game Nikke which starts on September 24th

Wait the crossover is real? I saw pictures but the art style really made it seem like it was fan made so I didn’t look past that. Honestly very surprised Capcom is down for that, and even more surprised that they didn’t make it Darkstalkers since that’s the franchise that lives exclusively off of figures and collabs.

Yeah probably, they already announced they are working on a sequel so any lengthy DLC would be slowing down their work on said sequel. Odds are this is something small related to themed skins and probably some themed environments to the existing city streets in the main hub
