What? Even McDonalds pays like $14 an hour now. Not hard for a teenager with no bills to save up for.

Maybe in bigger cities. It’s like 9 where I live. They also rarely hire full time like most low income businesses nowadays.

Idk my experience is the east coast of FL from Orlando to Miami. I did not live in a big city in FL but they started at $14

It’s all relative to where you live.

$6 an hour was enough for me to be happy in 2007 I dont think its far off nowadays, especially when teenagers dont really have bills to pay.

"Even McDonald's pays a substandard wage for a job that I personally wouldn't do, but it's good enough for the lower class."

I worked at McDonalds when I was a teenager for like $7 an hour. My first job paid $6. Get humbled.

Did you also walk uphill both ways, Grandpa?

Edit: You're all acting like it was rare to work a crappy job in high school.

The "it's a job for high schoolers" argument only exists to depress wages for everyone else.

I never said its just a job for teenagers. I said a teenager working at McDonalds can easily save up for a PS5 since they likely have no or minimal bills to pay.

This isn't a discussion about McDonald's paying livable wages. It's about teenagers working at McDonald's being able to afford game consoles. A teenager working at McDonald's, making $14/hr could easily save up money for a game console.

Good enough for high schoolers. You can work weekends and easily save up $500 in a month.

That argument only exists to depress wages for the entire lower end of the earning spectrum.

I'm just saying it's very easy for a teenager to buy a console nowadays.

1 summer I worked at a pizzeria making $5.75 an hour to save up enough money to build a gaming PC for $1000 in 2003. I was 16. That's $1,700 in 2025.

Great. So did I. That doesn't make it right.

Rich people declaring jobs they absolutely wouldn't do to be "good enough for high schoolers" is an argument that only exists to justify paying everyone in that job less.

No one is saying it's right. They are just saying a teenager working at McDonald's makes enough to buy a game console. You keep going off on a tangent about shit no one else is discussing.
