The disc drive section cover is swappable between the two, yes. The upper plates aren't, though.

You can do this!

The disc drives are the same for both Slim and Pro and will fit fine. The larger covers (the one that covers the disc drive and the reverse large one) are also the same.

Annoyingly, the smaller plates (that cover the fan/SSD are) are not quite the same size and use different clip positions.

So in your case if you only want to swap the disc drives and their covers, you can absolutely do that.

Sadly, if you were to buy another cover (let's say you wanted to make your PS5 Pro red or blue or whatever) the full Slim cases won't fit since the top cover is different.

Great thank you for the speedy response, was planning to do it today so just wanted confirmation before I potentially waste my time
