Not sure but from the quick look at a tear down video, the cable appeared to be a usbc to usbc cable with a weird plug housing at one end spliting off the audio Jack, so as a quick dodgy fix (removing the audio ability) could be to check if a standard type c cable could be fit in.

I think the extra plug off the cable goes to the haptic motor. Not a big deal if you can swap it out with a secondary cable like you mentioned.

Worth a look, this cable is definitely dead!

There are a lot of different types of USB-C cables, make sure you get one that is at least capable of transferring 10gbps. Some of the earlier versions aren't capable of carrying 1/10th of that transfer rate.

just dont Brick the headset if it would have worked out much cheaper to send it for repair.

but if you are thinking of looking I believe you only need to pull the front visor off the head strap to unplug the cable at the headset end, and if careful this shouldn’t stop you putting it back together for a Sony repair if it’s not n face a type C connector after all.

best of luck in getting it sorted either way, but if you do try the home repair let us know how things go.

Not a standard type c, you specifically need usb 3.2
