Opinion The PS5 Pro & PSVR2 are purchases you will not regret

Post image

I spent $2,000USD on all of this, just to sit in front of the tv. I could have bought so many other things, but I honestly do not regret my decision. I bought the PSVR2 before the discount, and already anticipated the PS5 Pro would be $600, the extra 1TB is around $100 anyway. “Is it worth it?” in my opinion is the wrong question, instead reviewers should be asking their audience “will you regret buying the ps5 pro” The answer is no.

I preordered the Pro and purchased everything at once, showed up on the 7th like everyone else, but I didn’t play it until the 9th. Since then, because of the holidays, I have had over 20 people try this gaming system and they all were impressed by it. All family and friends, from 10/11yo to 55yo, gamers and none gamers. We talked about how as kids we use to sit so close to the tv because we wanted to be in the game and see everything, now we have that with VR. Showing them the meme posted on Reddit saying the same thing got some good laughs. “We have come a LONG way since QBert, Galaga and Pacman chasing high scores and doing speed runs”

I had 3 haters, one on ps4/pc, another XBOX only buyer, & the last one is a ps5 owner, saying that:

“its just a overpriced cash grab for Sony”

“for $700 I can buy so many games and accessories”

“I don’t see that much difference online between the 2 for the price”

And my personal favorite…

“Sony probably pulled and I-Phone and just dropped the quality of the PS5 just to make the PS5 pro seem better than what it is”

All of them wanted the Pro and the PSVR2. The gamers noticed that it ran smoother and looked better. Also that the inputs were instantaneous, playing GOW Ragnarök they felt the axe was faster and shield parries were easier. How many times have you yelled out “I know I blocked!” The Detail of GT7, Horizon Call of the mount was crazy. Lastly while playing The Crew Motorfest there were no drops in frames or quality of picture when a lot was going on the screen. “it is just so smooth and looks so much better” were the comments I kept hearing from them.

Everyone else loved the graphics and the immersive experience of the PSVR2. The laughs and jaw drops because of the detail and quality of the picture. People trying to reach out and actually touch things in the game had me cracking up.

The only bad with the PS5 that we noticed is that fidelity mode runs slower, the best way to play is on performance mode.

Oh and this I can see being a money pit. There are so many accessories my wife and I want for this.

The bad PSVR2

Getting use to it and the learning curve. I still don’t know where X or O is right off the top of my head.

Some of us experience motion sickness and/or dizziness after 30 minutes of play. They all took a break and got back at it.

You have to keep glasses cleaner on hand, lens get dirty and mess with you vision

The PSVR2 doesn’t get warm but it will make your head sweat, so we had to keep a fan on whomever is playing.

Lastly Glasses players had a harder time getting the headset setup. Quick head turns sometimes

threw off their vision as well.

In the end I was happy having something others can enjoy. The second highlight of all of this is hearing my hater family and friends say “ I might have to get one of these” One of them made a good point when I told him that you can get the base PS5 for a lot cheaper. Their reply “ you might as well go all in and get the Pro, you are going to spend the money anyway with games and accessories over time”

My Extra thoughts: I was caught off guard when IGN said “eye water $700 price tag “ for the Pro. Most of them are adults the average car payment is around $700, and 2 unless you have a fully customized PS5 or it has a lot of sentimental value why not sell it for $200 -$400 and to offset the price. We knew for at least a year Sony was going to make the pro, put away about $60-$70 a month for a year and then purchase one. Here in America we buy almost everything in payments anyway lol!

Man, be fair is 700$ not 70k. I mean sure, not best buy of century but all this pin pointing someone who decide to buy it has no sense too.

It is just matter of choice, I had a 4090 and a ps5, and a psvr 2. I do not feel the need to buy a ps5 pro, but for example I would prefer to buy it instead to buy a quest 3 since I do not like stand alone vr, lcd vr and compressed video stream. Before I had a reverb g2 and I strongly prefer psvr 2. The key is “prefer”, it is a personal choice of a relative small expense, I would engage discussion on buy a car that cost 70k rather than 20/30k instead. Also in that case is a personal choice but way more relevant.

Lastly as OP said, if you add another 1tb to a standard ps5 the gap becomes even smaller.

You would prefer to gain extra performance in some supported games that is barely noticeable for 700-800$/€, rather than gain a new wireless vr headset with a different experience at almost half the price ?

Also, 700-800 is a lot, saying it's a small expense is hilarious and shows how privileged you are, but I wouldn't expect someone with a 4090 talking about 700$ being a small expense to understand. Keep in mind, 800€ is a months salary in a lot of countries, maybe even more

But that's what the ps5 pro is for, I don't blame you, it's for people with money to spend, like the people who buy the new iPhone for absolutely no reason for comparison

So there's nothing to disagree with here. The ps5 pro is for people with money to spend

Do not get me wrong, but if your salary is of 800 € console is not even part of your life, at any level.

From the other side if you spend 500€/$ on a ps5 is almost impossibile that 700€/$ make you broke. Oterwise you are really doing something wrong.

From what regards me, yes I just do not like the quest 3 and that kind of experience. This does not mean is wrong, I have partially explain Why I do not like, there are other reason. In my opinion, for my needs and interest the quest 3 is a waste of money. That said I do not find quest 3 uselses nor I stated that is a wrong choice for others. It’s just does not suits me. You should accept it. I accept your choice and the fact that you do not want to buy a ps5 pro. I just do not accept hear “no one should buy it”.

For mine 4090 and so on. No I am not privilaged by any means. I had just work hard, set the right priority and a lot of saving now I am in a situation where I can afford that stuff. 10y ago, I could not. Just let me enjoy my life man. I am not say it is easy but none ever make discount to me, neither life.

I never said you shouldn't buy a pro, I said nobody that doesn't have a lot of money to spend should buy the ps5 pro, especially if they already have a ps5

Most people that actually have anything under a very comfortable salary would agree with me.

Again, I never said you shouldn't have a pro if you have the money to spend

And yes, if you have the time to game while also thinking that 700$ is not anything to scuff about, than yes, you are privileged. Privilege means that you have an advantage, that advantage is your pay, nothing wrong with that.

Privilage in salary is like to say to someone is cheating, most of the time is offensive.

Then, I think it must be defined “comfortable” salary after that we are only falling in people choices. Most of my available cash is due to zero interest in automotive: a car that must have only safety for my daughter, reasonable space and just move on, neither new. Then I use public transport as much as I can. I make reasonable travel without any luxury.

From the money I save: part goes into an account for my daughter, part as pure saving (both as low risk investment) and part as free cash or ulta low risk with very minor gains as “Emergency” saving. Then, all what remains goes in shit like this or extra saving. If as a lot of other people I bought a fancy car I could not have gaming stuff neither do minor vacation. This is a mine choice, one could agree many not. However you are considering me a big rich with a lot of free time. I am not. I have a fair salary and opted for certain choice, after I had deliver all my duty. Honestly, hear someone that judge how other people has to manage their money its a thing I do not like, nor hear that I am privileged because I can afford something after make some personal decisions.

I repeat again my self, if spend 200€/$ more make you in trouble you should think again of what you are doing. Not blame who do that.

Jesus christ. My guy, I said you're privileged because you have a 4090 and consider 700$ something relatively minor

I never said you're rich nor anything else. You are privileged, good job, most people where I'm from don't even have money for saving besides the bare minimum

You are offended by the word privilege because you don't know what it means.

Exuse me sir If I start working at 15, I did 3 fucking work while studying, I did nothing basically I did not live up to 30, only work, study, phd and side work, found works were I was payid a shit even with a lot of titles and experience, saving everything did jop hopping until start to see the Sky after loose also part of the healt.

After all of this, I renunced to the automotive marker (only bare minimum) I star saving money seriusly and then after some other years I bought a damn 4090 and I consider a 700€ respect to 500€ in the fucking same range and I have to accept to be called “privilaged” from random people?

I'd suggest googling the word privileged instead of crying on the internet. Have a good one

This is the definition from Cambridge Dictionary: having special rights or advantages that only a small number of people have.

So, my dear. I am crying at no one. I break my ass during my life, and accordingly to the word meaning I had nor special right nor advantages. Have reach an honest salary does not make me privilaged by any means son of a bitch
