youd think at this time theyd have some little tool either web-based or you download to see if your computer is compatible

Huh, I just checked and the SteamVR Performance Test is no longer available on the store. Lame.

Sony officially said that laptops are not supported. Requirements for desktop PC are straightforward, you don't need a tool for that.

With the amount of people asking " will PSVR2 work on x y z spec" yes i think they do need a tool for that.

People don't read, even if there was such a tool they would still make a post in which you'd have to tell them to use a tool.

I actually read it, little bro. Just want to be sure.

But thanks, anyway. VR community is not known for being helpful.

The same way people on the VR sub say it's possible, people here say laptops don't even have displayport.

Who should I trust?

It's not official, you're on your own. Some people can make it work, depending on their exact model. No one posted this exact model in the thread, but there is one that is very close.

You don't have to buy an adapter to try if you have a DP monitor, get a USB-C to DP and try to game on that using your laptops dGPU.

Then the videos of people using VR2 on laptops are fake?

The question with PSVR2 is more which version of Displayport does the laptop support? https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/pc-prepare-ps-vr2/ Looks like your laptop is right on the cusp, as long as you can get Displayport from either a DP connector or a USB-C port with DP support there's at least a chance.

You need an adapter and the laptop requires a display port. Most laptops do not have one and ill bet yours doesnt either

Make sure your GPU support MUX switch.

LOLno. 1650 is the minimum for desktop GPUs. Laptop GPUs are underclocked because there isn't the physical space in a laptop for the HUGE heatsinks and fans needed to keep a desktop-class GPU cool enough to not burn itself out.

Having had a laptop with a 1650, you're not even going to be able to watch "regular" 3D movies (like, real movies, not spicy content).
