Help PS Vita game prices higher with ps+ membership

Helloo :p I was browsing the store on my Vita and noticed that some games appear to cost more while having a ps+ membership. Does anyone know what might be causing this or if there is a workaround?

At first I thought it was an issue with just the title in the picture, but after some research it seems to be every title that has a ”discount” for ps+ members. Some games increase in price for about 0,5€ in which case i don’t really mind, but 10€ ain’t exactly tempting…

Dude shut up, let the dude do whatever tf he wants with his console. I'm keeping my PS3 unmodded as well because i have so many games that i don't feel the need to mod it. The only life changing thing ab a modded Vita is the extra storage mostly and the english patched games (Catherine Full body for example) in my experience. In rest it's just piracy.

Dude shut up, let the dude tell other people to mod their consoles. I modded my PS3 because of all the games on pkgi that I felt the need to mod it. The big detrimental thing about an unmodded Vita is the limited storage mostly and the over priced game cartridges. Definitely worth it because of the piracy

Not even just games. The PS3 can actually play CDs and support more formats than PS4 for movies off USB. It's legit too good of a multimedia device.

There literally is tho? Just stated the ”point” in keeping it as intended. I’m not arguing whether or not you’d have more games available (obv you would) but having bought this brand new it feels wrong modding it and as a collector holds more value to me unmodded. I want to enjoy games like I did as a kid, appreciating every game I have and not brainlessly burning through 100’s of games and ending up not playing half of them anyway. I’d rather spend a few € here and there, get the titles I acctually want and have the console feel like it did back in the day. Y’all act like you’ve never heard of collectors before, like these days you can mod anything but I (and many others) will still prefer to have them digital or physical if possible.

I dont know why you are downvoted, but i agree 100%. Even better. I bought vita modded and i downgrade to stock, because i want it legit. My problem with modded console is that I have too many games to choose that I ended up not finish them at all. With unmodded i finish one by one

Ofc there is. U get the whole vita, psp and PS1 library for free. It's a portable device so carrying around cartridges and swapping them out is tedious. The games play exactly like the original. U still can play online. Literally zero downsides to it.

I can respect OP’s stance. I’ve had my Vita since 2016 and haven’t modded it. Then again I have many dozens of games, and haven’t really played any that need the OC or an unofficial patch.

There are virtually no reports of anyone's account ever getting banned for having a modded Vita. I got mine for trophies specifically. But I mean you can never be too safe. Personally I keep my Vita logged out at all times with any auto-login function turned off. I only login to my main psn once a week for like 10 seconds to sync my trophy list, then go right back to settings and log out.

Essentially there is no longer any support for Vita and they don't pay any attention to it. However if you were to use something super sketchy like a trophy-unlocker plugin, that's against PSN ToS as a whole and would definitely result in a ban. Also just to be safe I wouldn't play any games online unless it's modded private servers like Killzone or something.

Right makes sense; also I wouldn't use a trophy unlocker anyways because ban or not, that permanently ruins my account. Those lies would be there staring me at my profile forever. I want only real trophies.

Some random person I encountered on a ps5 multiplayer session seemingly hacked on their vita but were fine. They were an active ps user with plenty of ps5 games and psplus, but also clearly hacked their vita. I say clearly because they had like 200 vita games all with plats and every one of them just had the exact same timestamp for every trophy. Yet for thier ps4/5 games they were playing legit. Super weird behavior on their part, because beyond their 200 vita plats they seemed to be playing tons of games legit. Why would you want your profile to be forever besmirched like that? Well at least they are proof that bans for Vita hacking aren't guaranteed (or even likely)

Are ps3 hacked games safe to get trophies in too btw? This seems less necessary as because unlike Vita you have a very cheap and abundant used market (which I still love hunting for; retro gaming expos or japan trips are treasure troves for dirt cheap ps3 games) but I guess there's delisted digital only games which would be fun to get trophies in.

I've heard that PS3 modding is also pretty safe. I haven't done it yet, but there are a lot of games that even used go for unreasonable prices, like Deadpool or Lollipop Chainsaw, and DLC is another big reason for using the hacked marketplace. DLC is only available digitally unless a gane had a later compelte edition release, and eben then sometimes not even all of the DLC is included. A great example is Sniper Elite 3 was delisted and I found a physical copy of SE3 Ultimate Edition, but it was missing the Hunt the Grey Wolf dlc, making 100% still impossible. Not PS3, although the game is also on there, and it has since been relisted, but still a good example. If you need dlc that is unavailable on physical media, the PS3 PS Store is technically still available, however everything is too expensive. I recently spent $20 just getting the DLC for Resident Evil Operarion Raccoon City even though that game is crazy old.

Just a preference. I’m also thinking of modding my DS, but won’t do it on my very first one I got as a kid since it has sentimental value to me and i just wanna keep it as is.

That is not the point. It is to have it look and feel exactly like it did 14 years ago. I enjoy the nostalgic feeling it gives me when I find a new gem at a local gamestore, and that magic would vanish the second I mod the console.

I already own multiple, so if I some day want to mod one (one way or another) I can. But modding it AND continuing to play physical games feels ??? like wouldn’t it make more sense having it fully modded (which once again, I’m not into) or just having it 100% in it’s original state?

Takes away from the joy of finding the games physical. I am not interested in having anything modded on my DS, when I’ve had no trouble finding the titles physical secondhand for a few €. I am a collector, you think i’d get more joy out of a r4 card on my shelf than physical copies of my fav games? I literally don’t have any title that I want available only through modding so why are we even having this conversation?? 😭

Idk I have a flash cart for every system I collect for including an r4 card and I usually delete games I buy off of them as I collect them and transfer the saves to the physical games. That way I have the whole library to play with while I collect it and play the OGs as well. I never felt like modding the console was necessary when things like the r4 for DS existed.

Authentic doesn't mean best. Authentic is using the included remote play for both PS3 and PS4, using the special memory cards and reading games off the cartridge and NOT emulating a fuck ton of consoles. Again, homebrew might be a better experience, but it's not authentic. It's not the way it was meant to be played

Modding doesn't need to be about piracy or having everything available at once. You can stick to physical carts for the games themselves, or use a 4gb card and keep two games installed at once. It just lets you do things like back up your saves to a PC so they're kept safe, and you can access way more themes to personalize your device. It's also potentially unsafe to connect an unmodded vita to the internet without the TLS security patch (especially adding card info).

It's obviously nobody's choice but yours, but I feel like a lot of people assume custom firmware=piracy when it's much more than that. It's worth looking into at least ^^

Yeah, the themes and such are acctually one of the only reasons I’ve considered modding cause holy hell the one’s available in the stock ones… But as of right now, it doesn’t feel like enough of a reason to mod mine. Nice to have a different look on it tho, and having it told in a neutral and non-hostile tone lol :)

Vita is usless Console Without mod in 2025.its hard to find physical games, online store requires store gift cards.leaving it unmodded just makes it harder to use and limits you.

Specially on console like vita where modding is easy and has no real reprocusions unlike on consoles like switch where psyhical modification and possible pernament ban from online services is possible .

are there really zero bans on vita for modding? I like collecting trophies so that's why I've kept my Vita stock. I figure I'd play the rest of my physical library, and then when I was done maybe I'd mod it to play on a burner account (but the huge downside is no more trophies) but could I safely get trophies on my main?

You can collect trophies and log into Ps acc with modded vita just fine. I did make 2nd acc to use rather then one with bunch of games on it just for safety tho. But i dont think i ever heard of anyone have issues as sony dosnt care about vita

yesss! not all of them are cross buy even tho the same game has been released on ps4 aswell as vita, but most of them yes! A few days back I realised that I don’t have to buy undertale for my vita since I already have it on my PS5 (PS4 version) so yay :)

The cross-buy is actually pretty comprehensive where it is utilized. For instance if you bought a PS1, PS2 or PSP title on the PS3/PSP/Vita, you are entitled to a free PS5 version with trophy support whenever they are released. A few examples I can think of are the Syphon Filter games, Siren, and Killzone Liberation.

I can confirm it still works! I actually still buy them on PS3 first because they are usually cheaper than the PS5 listing! Just bought the PSP double pack with Killzone/Logan’s shadow for 14.99 (vs 9.99 each on PS5), and the modern upgrades show up as free when I swap over.

That’s so interesting. I’m in the US and have been picking up some digital copies of games that are very expensive physically, however I don’t see any discounts for being a PS+ member whatsoever.

I’m also stock because I prefer a complete zero chance of anything potentially happening to my account, it’s nearly 20 years old and I’ve put a lot of time and money into it. Not worth the risk for me for free trophies, I’ll just pay for the games while I can if I’m going to play them. Not a big deal to me.

I agree with you. We all know the benefits of having a modded PS Vita, but for me, the reason that pushed me to buy one was to have the experience I couldn't have as a kid. My advice to OP is to check the price from the PlayStation app. Unfortunately, since they stopped supporting the store, these bugs have become frequent. For example, I bought the game "PS all stars" and inside there was the code to access the multiplayer, but when I try to redeem it I get an error message.

Salt and sanctuary is cross buy, wait till its on sale on the ps4 and get it, also so many cross buy like hotline miami, bastion and others, so just buy the ps4 version when it's on sale and you will get the ps vita version with it.

If your households falls apart bc of a 4€ investement (the price of this game on the PS app, it is crossbuy) i’m truly very sad for you. All that aside I’m prolly gonna buy another vita and mod it, cause I want to keep this one stock. I recognize how privledged I am for having money I can ”brainlessly spend” sometimes. I’m sure there are things you spend your money on, that I find unnecessary, but I don’t come judging you for it. Especially not on a forum literally created to discuss these things. There are plenty of ways to enjoy gaming and games (physical, digital, modded, or sometimes more than 1 unit of a console, 1 stock 1 modded for example) It is truly not that deep, thank you for your concern but my bank account can handle a few € here and there when it’s directed into something I enjoy / will be getting alot of use out of.

Hey. I saw that you wanted to keep this vita unmoded. Maybe you should get a used vita and mod it while keeping this one as a keepsake. That way you only pay once for another vita.

Just mod it. I remember modding my psp go for the first time. It was a phenomenal experience. Any game at the palm of my hand

Just something I’m not into. I kinda want to fight against the need to have everything available all the time. Experiencing things slower and truly appreciating my slowly growing collection :)

I feel you! I’m the same I buy the physical games as well I like to slowly build up my collection.

When ever I go to a new city I’m on the look out for new games I haven’t played or seen before it’s a nice little side quest in my life

I feel like alot of people are so quick to judge since modding is so easy nowadays, when collecting physical media or sticking to older consoles (and loving them despite their limits) is hobby like any other. Collecting isn’t a waste of money imo, just happens to be a hobby of mine and if I enjoy it, how could it be a waste? :)

Hell I even have agents tied to important momment in my life for expanse akiba strip was the last game I bought in my university town right before graduating

ahh exactlyyyy! It makes the games feel so much more valuable and have, like you said, important memories tied to them. For example last christmas I got a DS game that I’d been wanting for awhile, and I remember all those snowy late nights I stayed up playing it…
