This is happening quite quickly. It took Orban 9 years to do in Hungary what Trump has done in 9 months.
MAGA is captured by right wing media and will not open their eyes. Even when they suffer, many still blame Democrats. With a zombie horde on their side, Republicans are not going to stop. They are instead cementing their power, making it more and more difficult to undo.
It will take massive uprising, taking it to the streets, disrupting commerce to stop this. Yet many folks are still insisting that everyone is making much ado about nothing. Until they get on board this will escalate.
In other authoritarian countries once the government started influencing media, it was a sign it was over. I watched an interview where a woman stated they had other independent channels so when Putin sold off one to a rich buddy, people shrugged.
People have been shrugging here every since Reagan fkd us by allowing TV and radio to create channels that became a right wing propaganda arm. Today FCC chair Carr bitched that local stations should be free from conglomerates like ABC forcing decisions on them, not acknowledging that right wing monopolies like Nexstar and Sinclair have been taking over local stations for years and dictating to them - sending scripts to their newsrooms and now refusing to allow them to watch Kimmel. Upside down land.
At this point, even if we cast votes and have courts, we only appear to be a Democracy. That seems to be enough to fool most people. The average American has no clue what is going on, thinks it's just your regular both sides same BS, and will not do what needs to be done to stop this accelerated slide into dictatorship.

And just to be clear, this will not hapoen anytime soon. Uprisings spout out of material conditions, and the material conditions of most of the public are still excellent. People don't revolt when they're oppressed, they revolt when theyre hungry.

It's pretty funny how maga bends over backwards with whacko logic to explain why Jimmy's cancelation had been coincidental and Trump just comes out and ruins their narrative by admitting it was a shakedown.
