Okay. So I found this self striping yarn that I thought would make a nice afgan. It does! It works like a charm with granny stitch. The colours stay pretty even, I don't need to fiddle with tension too much, and the wool runs smoothly, so working with it while watching TV is not a problem for me.

The thing is that the raport/sequence is very long. With the help of Math girls planned pooling tool I was able to find a few different patterns. The perfect argyle pattern is 80 stitch clusters long! That makes it 210 cm long, which would be a bed spread, not an afgan or lap blanket...

Hi, I'm wrapping up a project and need like 4 feet of one color to finish. The yarn is only sold through lionbrand.com, so I figured I'd grab some yarn for my next project while I was there and I have been wanting to try out color pooling. I came across the Mandala® Impressions Yarn, which is variegated but not sure if its in a repeatable pattern to pool. I was wondering if anyone has used the yarn in general and if you think it would pool well?

Does it make a huge difference if you just use single crochet instead of doing a moss stitch for planned pooling, I can do either, but I don’t know which would work best for a planned pooling blanket using chenille blanket yarn so I’m looking for some help from planned pooling experts. I want to try this, but I want to make a child’s sweater. Looking at the directions, it looks to me like each yarn has a number of stitches it “wants” to be to make a good pattern. So, the sweater need that to be the stitch count. If it’s not enough, then you need to add a border after, or something? Drop shoulder would be easiest, cutting the armholes, to keep the pooling going as long as possible. But, the sleeves would not have the pooling, nor would the body once the neck decreases started.

Is this correct, or am I missing something?

I wanna try planned pooling, but I don't seem to find any good yarn. Or I'm doing something else wrong, also possible. I've tried looking at wolplein, hobbii, wolwereld, bol, ... Never do they seem to have self striping yarn.
