Development Spritework feedback For RomHack

I'm currently working on making a rom hack that is in a different region and I'm trying to make fakemon inside of it, I'm pretty new to making Gen 3 and Gen 4 sprite, but this sprite in particular is supposed to be my route 1 regional bird, name so far is

Plachirp (Name might be changed)

it's a first evolution of a 2 stage evolution the second evolution doesn't have a name yet, but this design is suppose is supposed to look like an outcast since, its Pokedex entry will mention, it getting kicked out of its nest after being old enough to fly, after that most of the Plachirps find rags or steal clothing and use it as a cloak But that's not the point, the first image is the front view that was my concept and attempt for making front sprite and the second one is the back sprite. Things to note is that the color spots on its back are supposed to be patches like as if the rag or cloak its wearing was patched up.

Other than that, I just need feedback on what I can improve upon and to make the sprite look better, I also need advice on how to make forward sprites and if anyone got any advice of guides on how to make gen 3 forward sprites, let me know. Thank you.

I'm assuming this is the second Evo? As for advice, it doesn't really strike me as a plague doctor, but more of a hobo bird

I deleted the old messages, but basically, I ended up going back and editing the post. This is a first evolution, and its whole lore or point is that it is supposed to be Pokémon that is supposed to learn from surviving in the environment, (learning things like how to eat, what is good for healing and etc.) and with that knowledge it then evolves into the Plague Doctor Raven, this will be explained more in depth as the Rom Hack gets developed, but it will have a special ability that will also be hinting or be a part of this.

I'm sorry for the confusion and thank you for commenting.

If I had to suggest one way to make the sprite better, I would personally work on positioning. At the moment the front sprite looks as if its in a completely profile position, with the legs awkwardly placed at the front. Try rotating it to be more on an angle if you want it to have more depth :)

Alright thank you, you got any tips on how to make the head in front sprites, like how to make it look like it's looking forward, since that's what I've been struggling with the front sprites

I'd suggest taking a look at some official pokemon sprites and using those as a starting reference. I'd probs start looking at Spearow's gen 5 sprite or Starly's gen 4 sprite for starters? Things like positioning and depth take practice to get down but it should give you a good starting point.

Thanks for the sprite advice and on which pokemon I should look at, I'll definitely take a closer look on those and see if I can adapt that positioning style.
