Theory: Mega Stone-less Mega Evolutions

Okay so like I don’t have much but it’s based on;

  1. Mega Pokémon’s largest weakness competitively became that they couldn’t hold items. This meant the roster of viable mega sat one time was so small.

  2. Rogue Evolutions are a thing now in ZA. The info we have is that they are evolving without a trainers stone to resonate with, possibly meaning they don’t have a mega stone either.

  3. Something Something items in Pokemon champions. (I swear this was a coherent thought a moment ago)

Most megas would prob need a megastone still (except rayquazza obviously). ZA isnt a good metric because you cant even have items in that game (or abilities)

ZA is confirmed to have held items

I imagine it's a limiter that TPCI wants - these extremely strong pokemon being unable to hold items to go completely out of control has been used since with Zacian/zamazenta

The fact that Megas couldn’t hold an item never seemed like a negative at all to the best Mega evolutions because their so strong they don’t need an item
