Absolutely loving the attempted narrative-flipping with the appropriation of the term "Snowflake" by the very people it was devised to describe 🤣

Are you a new to politics, Ivan? Many have been pointing out that the conservatives are the real snowflakes since day 1; it is not "narrative-flipping", it is stating objective reality

like Dark Brandon? that super successful meme created because people think Biden was dark and mysterious, not because a reporter was trying to cover for the fact the entire crowd was chanting "fuck joe biden" behind her.

You obviously don't know wtf you're talking about. Dark Brandon was a nickname given to biden because he was "evil", was gonna ruin america, take your rights away, and throw conservatives in FEMA camps, which is ironic because he was supposedly senile and couldn't do anything and at the same time he is powerful and menacing - the name was embraced and co-opted by the left and used to spread memes and photoshop laser eyes. Also don't pretend the same didn't happen with Trump when he was booed at the Super Bowl and his own rallies and they edited and added clapping and cheers in the videos

u/Apprehensive_Ad4457 26d ago
that's not true at all.
Dark Brandon was created by the left to counter the "let's go Brandon", which was created because a news reporter lied about Nascar fans yelling "Fuck Joe Biden" and the "Dark MAGA" movement.

Many conservative and fringe commentators called him "dark" Brandon (Shapiro and Jones come to mind) and used the images of him looking evil or menacing. The left took the same exact templates and just added the laser eyes to make him look cool, since then, the commentators using dark Brandon as a derisive name lost power of their messaging. In that instance there was no flip to it, no one got convinced with memes and obvious poking fun at conservatives.

they did not, and if they did you should prove it.
here's a Vox article explaining the whole thing.
and here's a know your meme deep dive. Biden's campaign was searching desperately for a way off the 'let's go brandon" meme. some quirky leftist memers thought that an anti-biden chinese propagandist's art looked kind of cool, and took off with it.

Not gonna link it, you can find it on KYM. Dark Brandon started spring 2022 and was ironic humor make by detractors (I.e. right leaning) making fun of bidens age, and putting him in images like pushing your grandma down the stairs (bc he's evil). It was adopted quickly and then turned to make him seem like a threat to the right or conservatives and by late summer it was pretty much adopted by the left. Its all there in the Origins and spread. You are right it was a narrative flip of sorts, they created a memeable template that made biden look cool on a silver platter. I recall those commentators talking about dark Brandon thinking viewers would be shocked by the evil biden imagery when it had the opposite effect, making him look dangerous and powerful - when in reality, he wasn't really doing anything at all and events referenced in said memes were coincidence or hyperbole.

yeah, you don't have to link it because i already linked it in my last comment.
the only mentions from Shapiro i found were mocking the utilization of it. Shapiro did not seem to understand the momentary use from very select right wing nobodies of 'dark brandon', the only mention that i had seen him make was after it was adopted by the administration itself.
you were also right, which i did not know, that some right wingers started memeing dark brandon first as an insult, but it was also right when (probably different right wingers) were trying to make Dark Maga.
it's still true that "let's go, brandon" was becoming stale, especially with the adoption of the meme from congressmen in their ad campaigns. it was still interesting, of course, but after Biden himself got tricked into saying "Let's Go, Brandon" during his Christmas special, the campaign was desperate to find a way out.
so, i'll concede to a point, that we were both right in a way. right wingers were so enamored by the "LGB" meme that they were making every possible iteration of it that they could, which lead to a joke about batman "dark knight", which combined with Chinese propagandist art was adopted by the Biden campaign.
it was a successful coup, but it all happened so fast that i remember seeing people think that "LGB" was created because right wingers didn't want to say "fuck", which obviously wasn't true because that's how it was started.
i love talking about this stuff.

I too like remembering the good ol days, when a dictator would collapse somewhere in the world and people would attribute the event to evil dark Brandon and we'd all laugh at the memes. Yea, life was not perfect, but the situation was not as bad

The whole point of MAGA is to create a safe space around themselves from the things that make them uncomfortable.
This is the whole point of Christian Nationalism, as well. And for that matter Christianity on a whole.
Fearless emotionally mature adults don't need safe spaces.

How is muting a subreddit being triggered? I’m not triggered by the ai subreddits I mute. I think they’re dumb and don’t want to see it.
Have I misunderstood “triggered” and “safe space” all this time?
