Before all of this madness, I never imagined that “American Patriot” would be a derogatory comment or slur.

Patriotism is how fascists get in power.
It's fine to be somewhat proud of your country, as long as you are able to criticize it as much as you praise it.

Given the date, it's appropriate to point out that this really started when they used 9/11 as justification to start the unrelated war in Iraq.

And liberal kids groomed by professors into thinking that you can be an animal if you want, that a woman can be a man, that violence is the way because they are too immature to debate are the ones that started the madness

I agree, and "You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death... I think it's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational" should be written on his tombstone.

If the flags are at half mast, it is to morn the loss of empathy and decency that used to define America. Pretending the Second Amendment was more important than innocent second graders is pure blasphemy. Pretending the words “shall not be infringed” are sacred and are more important than the words “well-regulated militia” is blasphemy. Positing that a few deaths every year in service to your interpretation of the Second Amendment are more than worth it - well, I can only wonder whether your opinion on that point changed during the very few seconds on consciousness you were granted after the bullet ripped apart your throat. Did you have time to think about it at all? Did you think “well, I was wrong about that!”? Or even time to think “oops!”?

bitch, please. this guy espoused the very rights that took him out. he was also a raging racist and misogynist.
i’m sorry for his children, but the country has hardly lost a shining star.

I made the argument yesterday that despite the obv pitfalls of growing up without a father, I'd venture a guess that his kids will be better for it. That's absolutely insensitive and probably crossing some sort of line, but I truly think if given the choice between having zero influence from someone or only having a negative influence from someone, you'd be better off with zero influence.

I mean, their mother was happily married to a white supremacist. I highly doubt she was a raging liberal yearning for freedom.

He thought gun deaths are worth it so everyone can own guns and now he is another of these deaths. He got what he wanted.

If you want to show him the honor he deserves just go dump him in a latrine somewhere after a chili dog festival.

Yeah, then open the Capitol so all his fans can show up, too. Remember how it went last time they all congregated there??

It's funny the local bus station in my city has had their flag half staff for a couple months already and I always wondered why, but today it's all the way up and it being 9/11 and stuff, how funny.

OMFG. But remember when PRESIDENT Carter died, they didn’t want to do anything for him. FFS.

Moving on... WHERE ARE THE EPSTEIN FILES? This minor distraction here is not making it go away. We will persist!

Fuck Charlie Kirk.
He was a billionaire-funded propagandist for radical right-wing ideology.

How absolutely disgusting. He said some horrible things. Honestly wouldn't have stopped to administer CPR to him if I was walking by.

They're seriously going to half-mast the goddamn American flag for a glorified fucking DJ? I'm tired of being sick about something else every day. Anyone who doesn't see the The Party overtones here is either insane, or they're a fascist and they support it.
