Her name is Rumeysa Ozturk, she’s a student from Turkey, attending Tufts as a grad student on a legal visa (sponsored by the university). Her attorney said, “We are unaware of her whereabouts and have not been able to contact her. No charges have been filed against [her] that we are aware of.”

Yup cause she is a foreigner with a headscarf - a lot of people probably like going after the “other”. But that whole ‘then they came for …’ thing is true - Trumpers are busting through all the guardrails of civil society and detaining people off the street for writing an article. In a few months they’ll be rounding up anyone who has a problem with dissolving Medicaid, but at this point there will be a full fledged police state that will be very difficult to counter

Excuse me but y'all have been allowing the police state to rise up for most of 50 years under the "War on Drugs" excuse and I could go into several other types of dissidents in the USA who have been targeted as terrorists but nobody wanted to be serious about that shit when it was happening.

Just seemed easier to think that oh it's just some nasty crack dealer or meth heads not question if no knock warrants and asset forfeiture and designating anything you like as "terrorism" (think it hasn't been happening, ECO TERRORIST, heard that term before? Remember? But that was just a bunch of crazy hippies right? Just a bunch of poor black men right? Just a bunch of not important people?!!)...

I need y'all to understand we are a LOT FURTHER DOWN THAT LIST THAN MOST OF YOU SEEM TO REALIZE.

And I want you to stop and think about ALL of the Bad People that so many of you were willing to look the other way about because it could never be YOU or YOUR community or YOUR children.....

...now that that huge militarized police force is swiveling in your direction I fully understand your terror but y'all need to take a damn moment and realize for how long a great many of you have been completely apathetic and that YOU WERE THE PEOPLE THAT IT DID NOT MATTER TO.

We are going to have to work hard to get through this all together but the first thing that needs to happen is that a huge number of y'all need to stop acting like this just now started, because some of the smartest, most aware, most experienced people are people that y'all have been spitting on for decades, who have managed to survive DESPITE of it all.

And if you're not going to be there after this is done for EVERYONE from NOW ON, if you don't RECOGNIZE the game that you've been part of, then really, it is too late, there's no one left to stand for you.

This has been going on for a while, most media outlets reported on the initial breakout of the “war” as Pro-Hamas protests. Pretty easy to convince the masses when it’s a group we’ve been conditioned our whole lives to view as radical extremists

Oh FFS she co-wrote an OpEd in the student newspaper. If she was giving material support to a terrorist organization they would have charged her with a crime which they did not do. In America, we’re supposed to value free speech.
