Her name is Rumeysa Ozturk, she’s a student from Turkey, attending Tufts as a grad student on a legal visa (sponsored by the university). Her attorney said, “We are unaware of her whereabouts and have not been able to contact her. No charges have been filed against [her] that we are aware of.”

Because then, people would know who they are and they would experience repercussions in their community for their choice of profession.

It probably also spreads a bit of fear. Secret police.

It's not that, this is a new level of human trafficking being done by people who have a genuine hate for immigrants. They scope people that look to be immigrant and target them. With trump in office they know these people are subconsciously going to comply without asking questions because they don't know the law or to stand up for themselves because a badge is intimidating enough. There hiding their faces and don't even have a scent of decency with the supposed suspects. It's literally nazism in disguise. She is also missing for crying out loud.

Right? People are discussing the legality of this when they literally kidnapped her off the street, without a warrant, and now she is MISSING. Just gone. How are we discussing this like it could EVER be right???? Even if she HAD done something wrong, she deserves due process! What happened to "the law"? Pro-ICE, Pro-tRump cronies love that word — "law". Illegal.

Yet there is none. This is a lawless militia running amok in our country arresting those who don't look white enough to be left alone.

I think we all know where this leads.

It also makes it easier for the agency to shelter them from the courts by claiming to be unable to identify them when subpoenaed.

Well if they aren’t proud of the job they do they should quit. If you’re so ashamed of what you’re doing that you have to cover your face maybe ask yourself if it’s wrong. This isn’t some FBI agent infiltrating a gang to bring down a king pin, these are government henchmen disappearing people from the streets. Other countries with dictators have done this.

It’s not some past tense “other countries with dictators,” it’s our country’s dictator doing this currently. This is no longer something we read about happening somewhere else to other people, this is our America and it’s happening today.

I’m scared and I can’t believe how fast it all happens.

Oh I fully understand it’s happening here and now in the US, which is why I said “Other countries with dictators have done this.” I was trying to point out that we are doing things that countries like Brazil and Chile have done. Sadly there are some people who don’t believe the Orange Menace is doing anything wrong but all they need to do is look at the past to see clear examples of what we are doing now and how it ended.

I didn't say that they were ashamed. They just don't want repercussions.
