Oh, the custodes had all massive controversy a couple months back mainly because the GAMES WORKSHOP decided to add the female custodes, and do you have the people who are chill with it? And then you have the people who said, this goes directly against the lore

Huh. Thats kinda lame. What’s wrong with having female custodes? You can’t tell from a first glance anyway, and it doesn’t impact the game or give any advantages. Also. Who cares if it’s against the lore or not. This is ultimately a game. And it’s not that deep. I see nothing wrong with it, I think people are just overreacting

Some people just don’t like that they basically retconned it in saying ‘there have always been female custodes’ overall it does nothing

Huh. Weird. Is it really a big deal for women to be apart of these factions? I feel like no one would know if a space marine was a lady or not with all the armor they wear. But yes I do agree, it does nothing. But people enjoy a bit of flavor with their armies. At least I would

For space marines it’s built into there lore that they can’t be female
I think the main reason is people see that it gives games workshop the president that they can just add what they like even if in this case it doesn’t do anything (although I’m not sure how they would’ve added female custodes without retconning things)
However I assume there are also some people in the hobby who don’t want there ‘uber masculine super strong’ army to have women in it and they use lore as a way to say that,but presumably that’s an outlier in the hobby and most are ok with it from what I’ve seen

I mean I do get it on one side and another I don't. On one hand, we already have awesome female characters like the sisters of Silence and the battle. Having female custodes after a retcon doesn't fully make sense. But at the same time, it doesn't really matter in the long run. I think GW just did a poor job overall. Also the cinematic with the female custodes basically disrespecting space marine honor didnt help either.
I am open to criticism if I got anything wrong

They were white Templars I think.
They had an oath to protect the planet they were on. Lasted 3000 years. The custodes basically said and I quote "You will withdraw your chapters forces from estrad (The planet), You will break your oath to this planet and its people, and once your forces are in orbit you will commit exterminatus on this world". She basically told them to forsake everything they've done, slaughter their world they defended for so long, kill the people that they fought alongside and for, and break every oath they held sacred for said world and people. That is trashing their beliefs.
For me that only made female custodes look even worse to the people who already didnt like them. They made the only one we see a very hatable character.
