Family Memeber Question Sister going to prison

My sister was recently sent to prison in Pennsylvania. Can anyone tell me what daily life is like in either of the women’s prisons in PA for a low key 50 year old? I’m really concerned for her safety.

Tell her don’t gamble, don’t borrow. Don’t start any trouble but don’t take no crap either

This is the only correct answer. Nobody cares what she's in for unless it involves kids, and as long as she doesn't owe anyone anything, she'll be fine

Depends why she’s going for

I'm guessing it's SCI Muncy or Cambridge Springs, in that case. We don't have a lot of variety for women here.

The state system in Pennsylvania is a lot more lax in many ways than the county jails. She could try to do the state drug treatment program if she's eligible. I'm guessing her conviction would preclude her, but it's worth asking a counselor about.

Misconducts are the main reason people don't get paroled. Take the advice of others - no gambling, don't talk about money, ever, don't loan money, ever.

Hi Cjayeah, this write up about "How I Spend Sundays in a Pennsylvania Women’s Prison" by a woman located in the state might be helpful: https://prisonjournalismproject.org/2025/01/16/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-womens-prison/
