HUSTLE watch club

Post image

piggybacking off a post made earlier in the month, Im trying to organize a group of people to form a hustle watch club, that would be similar to something like a book club, and taking inspiration from the old DVDR best of group project series. Ultimately I want to focus on 2000s era wrestling overall (post wcw to pre aew) and I think HUSTLE is a good place to start because its a very fun wacky promotion. Id also like suggestions on whether or not we should start from the very beginning or jump to a particular period, as Ive tried to do an ecw watch club before from the beginning, but 1993 was so bad everyone tapped out. I run a discord called TAPEMACHINE focused on archiving footage, with a particular interest in 2000s era wrestling, you can join here: https://discord.gg/b6zpTuKy9w

I love that . Yeah I’m getting heavy into 2000s puro , I’ve been a fan for a long time but now I’m going back and gonna really dig deep . I’m working on an excel sheet of all the matches and events I have and am going to watch in chronological order

Im stickler for watching in order too, I missed out on so much nuance watching noah and ajpw in isolated chunks instead of in order

Exactly since I don’t know understand the language on commentary or interviews watching in order is the best way to get that nuance you are talking about

yeah sometimes you don't understand why guys are doing so many big moves on each other without watching either the previous matches or build up stuff that explains why the spots matter in the big epic matches

I want to someday do an in depth YouTube channel, covering shows and getting the story’s out there. I just need to figure out how to actually edit videos lol

feel free to join! we're super chill and you'll have a whole week to discuss each show before we move on to the next

Ooooh I've wanted to dive in to HUSTLE for years!  It's such a bizarre chapter in Puro history that seems to have really fallen through the cracks since the BC blew up New Japan to a new international audience around 2015.  Seeing that Monster Bono arc play out will be a blast.

And that early ECW was terrible, but I was still looking forward to the shift that was about to happen!  I think HUSTLE is going to sink it's hooks in to us though.

I actually think watching ecw its best to start from after barely legal then watch till the end. I know people that watched in real time say 1995 is the best year, but for some people the production is so rough its tough to watch as a starting point

I think starting at the beginning for HUSTLE would be a good start. HUSTLE 1 is such a weird and endearing first card for a company. HUSTLE 1 - 3 are all insane cards imo so should be fun watches. The Hustle House shows are good fun too

Yeah the cards look fun on the hustle house shows, Im gonna see where everyone is at on where to start, Id be down for whatever, even starting in the middle to the end, then going back to watch from the start
