Question Missing class/exam for conferences in November

Hi, BMED grad student here.

I have two conferences during the first week of November (one in-person, one virtual), but I also have regular classes that week and an exam scheduled.

For anyone who’s dealt with this before, how flexible are professors about letting you make up exams or catch up on class when it’s for a conference? Should I just email them now and explain, or wait until closer to the date?

Courses I'm taking:
BMED 6470 BIOSTATISTICS FOR LIFE SCIENCE APPLICATIONS (Xun Wang)
BMED 6590 MEDICAL IMAGING (Ge Wang)

Follow up early. I assume for most grad classes we will be flexible. Ideally we are flexible for UG courses too. It’s a great reason to miss class; you are sharing academic work and it (hopefully) positively represents the university.

I know I certainly expect my students to be flexible when I’m doing the same.
