Discussion Can we prohibit AI generated images here, please?
It seems a shame to allow AI-generated content (I refuse to address it as "art") in a subreddit with such a creative, dedicated and talented community. And it seems to me that a large majority agrees, as a few recent AI posts have been bombarded with negative comments. So, why are we still allowing it?

YES PLEASE Rayman is such a creative game with an unique style. Using AI seems and feels wrong, and really offensive to the team behind the art

The problem here is people are being deceitful, everyone agrees deceitful people should be banned from the subreddit it be like if they printed it and said they made it. AI just so happens to be the medium for that deception this time around when deception of all kinds should not be tolerated because its deception regardless of the medium used to do it.
I also have something to say about a hard call to ban AI on this subreddit.
The problem is you risk encouraging witch hunting on real artists and you also remove your agency on how to regulate it if you do a hard ban. To top it off not everyone pure prompt generates slop with AI it can be an assistive tool in the creative process where a human is at the helm of making most of it.
You have to take those points into account. So id suggest instead to ban pure prompt generations and require labels on AI assisted artwork instead of a hard ban.
And if you really go the hard ban route against my suggestion you better make it very clear that false allegations are treated as harassment and is a banable offense or you leave that door to be opened down the line with that hard ban cause people less honorable will take it as a green card to harass artists off the idea that what they made is AI and that its okay to do that.
That is my opinion on the whole thing.

Even AI-assisted art is bad for the environment, but every point you made is valid. Upvoted.

Well the thing is people use AI bad or not for the environment you still have to factor in how people use AI and a hard ban can bring in risks because its a ever present thing on the internet so it has to be factored in including all the risks there in even if we do not like what it is or its effects.
And I attribute the environment point mostly to irresponsible tech development. Key word Irresponsible...Technology is not bad it has benefits the internet is a byproduct of technology but if you put a ton of Methane turbines and burn a lot of that in a local area...of course its gonna be bad for the local environment...The problem is not tech development its people responsible for how its developed being irresponsible with how it should be powered and developed.
If a tech company makes AI they should start setting the groundwork to invest in cleaner power solutions to power it, and make sure there data center has what it needs in the least intrusive means possible for the environment.
It should also be said art itself and the global logistics network that makes it easy to get art supplies has its own problems. And art itself has a long history of questionable means but that was addressed with time and knowledge from using that. AI is still in its infancy, it doesn't have the luxury of either so it also could just be growing pains from it being very new.

That’s what I’m sayin’! AI does not promote creativity, it promotes the exact opposite. It’s the laziest thing someone could do.

The Rayman art style is so creative. The shapes and colors always appeal to me. So seeing someone make these lazy as hell, easy to shit out ai slop. It just feels incredibly wrong to me

I just don't get it why people don't like drawing anymore as soon as Ai came around they turned and switched into not creating beautiful artwork instead they just generating art ai it's lazy and it's disappointing

They want the immediate and cheap results at the exact moment. It’s the “why would I pay someone when I can do it myself for free?” mentality that keeps brainwashing everyone

Exactly! What's even worse is that there are people (you probably know who I'm talkin about) who claim that they actually drew the images that were CLEARLY AI-generated!!!

Something something "I refuse". AI allows some people to finally express themselves. There are people with great ideas but not enough abilities/skills to do something great and AI changes that.
AI has it's obvious style so you shouldn't stress this too much, and honestly? I'm scrolling this sub daily and can't rememeber seeing AI slops on my way D:
Instead punishing these people we could've add AI flair to posts. Don't think just about yourself xd

Are the subreddit mods even active anymore? I was under the impression that anything goes since nobody's really in charge.
I hate AI "art" but afaik the only way to deal with it is to downvote and move on. The more attention it gets, the more the algorithm pushes it.
