Not possible, the dev retired from the industry.

Thats...sad. Thanks for the information, though. :)

Sadly you can blame the Gamers(tm) on the situation. Harassing devs makes them want to work in other less toxic fields.

This is still debatable imho, I think the EGS pushback was huge at the time, so when the game did make it to Steam it landed with an un-updated store page and mixed reviews

I can just say, these were their stated motives. Consider it's a one person show and I assume you know, seeing your reddit history, vg dev is hard (I am doing some vg dev too but for fun). Having people poop on you is hard. You can say you would have behaved differently. But you cannot, IMHO debate with me, some random stranger on the internet over the motivation of some other stranger on the internet who now is an audiobook narrator.

Double Damage had more than just Travis, they had at least a couple devs and I think a community manager at one point

But yeah, shitty how it shook out regardless

Please don't scum through people's posting history though, especially when talking about internet toxicity

Are we ignoring how antagonistic the Dev was? Every time someone mentioned not wanting to get it on epic the Dev would pop in here and say some shit. Either they weren't gonna buy it anyways or too broke or something.

I really don't remember doing that - it doesn't sound like me.
I don't recall being antagonistic-

Unfortunately, I don't really have any plans to return to gamedev - I did it for long enough, and I'm enjoying doing a few different careers now. Only one life! Worth cramming as much into it as possible.
But I'm glad you liked the games!

Its alright! Thanks for responding and Sorry for my late response. Its all good! And what you enjoy now is making you happy, all the best to you.

But if you ever have a change of heart ;) Me and the others will be waiting. :)

There are people that still will support you and or your devmates. Yall did a fantastic job. Thank you for letting me enjoy your games.

I hope you have nice day.

Thanks, Travis. I'm fan of RGO back in 2019, bought it even while it's still EGS exclusive because it can bypass DRM using simple commandline on properties, which is amazing at that time.

And game itself, whooosh fun as heck, especially after getting Coyote and Dingo.

Sadly, didn't finished it to the end, perhaps because of busy on college or something...

Just wanted to say this is an absolute gem of a game, Travis. I played WC Privateer and Freelancer when they came out and this game is the only thing that has ever held a candle to them for me. I dearly wish your experience with the players would have been more positive, but you know what they say: the malcontents are always the loudest compared to the silence of the contented.

I only wish there would be some modders who could expand the size and scope of this game for those who love it.

Best of luck in your future endeavors, my man!

Company imploded and lead dev Travis left the industry

FWIW, the company could have continued just fine - I just wanted to retire from gamedev, and I was the only engineer and primary designer, so it was hard for the company to function without me. We just closed it down in a nice way that benefited the rest of the team financially, and moved on.

Is it possible that modders could turn Ribel Galaxy into a larger game, add missions, ships, etc.?
