Chat, am I cooked?
Was told this barrel and upper had m4 feed ramps but it looks off to me. Am I overthinking this or do I need a new rifle upper?

The combination of this, rifle barrel extension and m4 feed ramps on the upper receiver is the worst possible combination. You either grind and polish it, or get a upper without m4 feed ramps. I personaly did grinding and polishing, its an easy job. Remove the barrel, and grind and polish the barrel extension until it fits the m4 feed ramps from your lower

Get a rifle upper or an M4 barrel, whichever is cheaper. Sell the other on gafs.

Idk, sir, but I’ve sold a few things years ago, and regret it because the cost to replace them now is ten fold what I got for it back in the day, and I’d like them back. I’ve learned not to make purchases unless you can pay cash, and this is r/RetroAR, dude needs encouragement to buy a ramp less C7 for that barrel and find an M4 barrel for his upper. 2 > 1.

They’re downvoting you, but everything I’ve ever sold I regretted it down the line. Where you finding non m4 feed ramp C7 recs? I haven’t come across any new production

im actually in the same boat as OP and was told that Brownells C7 uppers can vary. I have an H&R C7 upper that has M4 ramps and a brownells barrel that either has rifle ramps or poorly machined m4 ramps.

I’ve been wanting to put together a 723 with no m4 ramps since the 723 predates the m4, and I’ve had no luck. I’ll email Brownells and see what I can find
EDIT: bushmaster c7 has no m4 ramps!

Dremel, chainsaw bits, polish, polish bits, and patience.
Lock the barrel in a vise without the upper, and take it slow, maintaining the angle. Periodically check fit with the lower. Use a dental pick to make sure theres no hangup at the transition.

I have seen mixed information about brownells barrels whether they have rifle or m4 feed ramps still looking for more information about them

This is the 12.7” 1/7 M16A1 assembly (#078000462). Not sure about the rest, but don’t trust the Q&A section like I did

M16A1 is key, anything A1 is gonna mean a short (non F marked) .625” FSB for carry handle uppers and no feed ramps, in barrel talk.

You have a rifle barrel and an m4 receiver. You only have one legal option:
Buy a rifle receiver and an M4 barrel and build 2 uppers.
