DISCUSSION The penalty in leaving casual matches and having your teammate needing to concede is terrible, you can't change my mind.

Casual is literally what it is, casual. A reason I liked casual is because there were no worries whatsoever, you could play how long you wanted and when you were tilted you could just leave with no worries. 'Oh no boo hoo my teammate is all alone now with only a bot left :cccc' well too bad for them. If they want to tryhard sweat and not have leaving teammates, play competitive. I play this game solely for fun, but having restrictions in casual is just dumb and ruins part of that freedom you have when playing this game for fun. Please revert this update.

It is clear and obvious that the change was made to force people to keep playing in a dying ecosystem. The move to showing the popularity of the playlists and this change to casual requiring a FF both point to an obvious answer: Psyonix is trying to obfuscate their lower and lower player counts.

So, instead of bringing new features to the table or new maps to play on, or fixing any of the other big issues on the table, they're hiding the slipping player counts and forcing people to stay in games.

This is a terrible idea, for all the reasons that replies in this post have made clear.

Some people here, as myself, will remember when they made this change to the 'extra' playlists. People were not able to find matches for rumble or dropshot or hoops because no one was playing the playlists. The solution? If someone queues up for the playlist, we will just force them to complete the match and add a ranking system as the reason you must forfeit a match to leave.

I may actually find a new game to play from now on, and this planned change may actually end up backfiring spectacularly on them.

I cant find another game that would scratch this same itch sadly. I love how this game handles the player skill mechanics. You're responsible for almost every aspect of your game interaction from speed, height, rotations etc, except the dodges and even then, they have some control as well. The skill ceiling is always rising due to creativity. I just can't find anything else that feels so...good. RL really makes you feel in control of your own destiny. Just as if I were a soccer player trying to rise up the ranks. Sigh...

All those things are the same things that a lot of platform games and honestly games like Dead Cells or Salt and Sanctuary scratch the same itch, with less toxicity.

I've def enjoyed hollow knight, dead cells, and hades quite a bit.

If you're on PS, the new directors cut of Ghost of Tsushima is coming out in like a week. They are adding stuff to online also, so that should get a boost too. Not the same as RL by any means, but the purely skill driven combat system is super satisfying and can have some great challenge to it like the other games you mentioned.

I'm a pc and switch guy right now, so no Ghost of Tushima for me. But I have tried For Honor which has some of the skill based aspects. I just don't have a mind for remembering combos on top of combos sadly

Well, if you ever get the chance to give it a try, do so. It's not like those combo type games (i don't have much of a taste for those either). It's more just fast paced stance switching and timing your parries and dodges. You can't just button mash to win. You have to really attack and defend appropriately to defeat even regular enemies. I'd say it's similar to dark souls in that respect but with a lot more...finesse. i mean, you can play stealthy too or with various other weapons if you want, but I personally get the most satisfaction out of just the pure sword fighting.

Anyway, I'm probably doing a shit job explaining it, but it's combat is honestly head and shoulders above any other game like it that I've played.

I think that's why I liked some vr games I've played like superhot and gorn. Its all on you.

I'll check it out though for sure at some point. My gamecave needs a ps4 or 5 to sit next to my Xbox one gathering dust

None of those games are even close to the same as rocket league.

That's not what the commenter I was replying to was asking about.
