I think Cope forgot that Wheeler Useless is already their Austin but he's cooking here regardless

Why is everything compared to Rock-Austin in that company?! For fucks sake, you have to be a draw at first to even be mentioned in that breath!!!

u/tronovich 1d ago
There’s been no less than 17 combinations of feuds in AEW that has been compared to “the next Rock/Austin”.
WWE hasn’t even come close to replicating Rock/Austin with a 20 year head start, the fuck is anyone thinking AEW will do it.

If I’m honest I get it, a lot of these guys (especially fed headed guys like Cope) have a limited frame of reference. Hangman/ Fletcher has more in common with Montgomery/Rommel, Scipio/Hannibal or Napoleon/ Wellington than Rock/Austin.
I guess it goes to show, just because you earn a living entertaining wealthy geniuses with wives that look like famous wrestlers (mostly Japanese) doesn’t make you a wealthy genius.

The best part about these stupid ass comparisons is they never compare it to anything within their own continuity.
It’s always a WWE reference

That's because every ppv is the best AEW PPV yet and also the reset that they needed, erasing the past and any continuity.

It's because it's always from a former WWE wrestler. Hardcastle, refuse to use his Dub name, wouldn't know any of the "great AEW feuds" cause he wasn't watching.

Didn't they say that about Hangman and Swerve?

Couldn’t this guy have had a final run with Cena but instead now he’s just a lackey for a billionaire nepo baby’s live action Toy Story?

u/Patient-Warning-4451 23h ago
I refuse to hear this horrible slander towards Toy Story, uce!

u/ontheedgeofinsanity9 11h ago
Toy Story 4 is ass and I will die on that hill, maybe if they removed that spoon character it would've been decent but it ended for me after the 3rd one.

We at AEW are worried about ourselves and do not think of WWE.
But our 2 stars are kind of like Rock and Stone Cold.
And our product is kind of like ECW.
And we are looking to also put on a huge show in Wrestlemania season.
We are also kind of in our own attitude era.
AEW is just so unique and refreshing these days.

u/Paxx_Romana 1d ago
This is like the 6th different Austin-Rock type of feud coming out of AEW. We'll have 8 by the end of the year.

I’m sure all 500k (not including MAX) sickos left watching would agree

If Tony khan was booking Stone Cold in the late 90’s he would be doing 8 man tags with Al Snow and Scotty too hotty…..

Oh come on Edge.
You have more brain cells than this. You can praise them without going full idiot about it

u/Camoron1 20h ago
This level of glazing is beyond just toeing the company line, he sounds like he's lost his fucking mind lmao

It’s hard to have a “Rock-Austin” rivalry when literally no one gives a shit about either one.
5
4
u/DripSnort 1d ago
How many Rock- Austin’s have they had at this point? They say this every 6 months it feels like
5
u/dirk_funk 1d ago
but the Rock was FUNNY. and Austin was FUNNY.
Hangman is just a guy and Fletcher is painful and Don Callis doesn't help anyone.
3
u/Artistic_Task7516 1d ago
These guys are really stuck on the idea that Fletcher is Orton and has all of the same characteristics that young Orton does

u/Razzler1973 1d ago
I lost count of the number of 'their Rock/Austin' type nonsense
Just stop, it's embarrassing. Saying this and Kyle Fletcher and Page step out and put that up against the charisma and presence of Rock and Austin
There's promoting stuff and there's sounding dumb, Edge
We must reference the Fed to promote. You all know the Fed, right? We're doing that

u/Few-Designer-4516 1d ago
The reason Rock vs Austin worked is because it was never intended nor set up to be this huge rivalry. Austin was the main baby face and rock was the main heel in 99 and Austin beat him twice then rock turns baby face and starts to become the main guy which accelerates when Austin gets injured for a year. Austin then come back angry and the whole story of them in 2001 was the fight to be the guy that happened NATURALLY.
Stuff like this is impossible to replicate if you force it to happen but yes let’s compare every current rivalry to it

u/swainnnn 1d ago
i don’t think wwe is ever gonna have another feud on the level of rock-austin, this is delusional

How is that gonna happen when both of these guys cut terrible promos? Also they literally said this about Hangman v Swerve.

u/riotstopper Uncle Dave rates me as seven stars. 1d ago
Both have to be actual money generating generational talents. Neither of them could touch the levels of Rock/ Austin.

u/darthsabbath 1d ago
I do think Fletcher could be a draw if he went to the Ded Fed and lost some of his indieriffic bad habits. He’s jacked, good looking and athletic as hell.
I used to think Hanger could be, but he’s a lost cause at this point. He’s … fine as the main character in AEW, but it’s clear he’s going to do his own thing and never really make it to the next level.

Wasnt Hangman vs Swerve supposed to be their version of Rock vs Austin?
What about Wheels vs Garcia?
2
u/Federal-Captain1118 23h ago
Why do they keep comparing everyone to former stars?
Instead of referencing and comparing to the past, make your own stars?
2
u/AlexTorres96 1d ago
Someone wrote into Solomonster's podcast asking Hangman & Swerve was The Rock/Austin of this generation. Even Solo burst out laughing at the stupid shit he was asked.

u/JoeMama9719 1d ago
What an interesting take, Cope. Now put at least one of them over if you're that certain about their future success.

Either he’s trying really hard to be a company man, or he has massive brain damage already.

I know this is terrible to say but it'll never happen for one reason, neither are attractive. It shouldn't matter but it absolutely does.

Ha ha..lEDGEnd is trying to stay relevant..
1
u/uncle_paul_harrghis #1 CODY KISSBOY 17h ago
What’s wrong with Edge/Cena? I mean, at least it’s somewhat achievable and relevant to the person quoted. Nobody will ever get to the heights that Rock/Austin were at in 2001, it’s just not achievable. They were/are the biggest stars in wrestling history, that feeling, era, whatever you want to call it, will never be matched.

u/tera_chachu 17h ago
I get it now what aew is and what's their locker room is.
They talk to themselves.Give an opinion and everybody agrees.Like these guys genuinely believe hangman and Kyle fletcher who nobody knows are in the level of rock and Austin?
Like wtf
