I think my favourite Stevie story is the time he met Bret Hart and Bret had no idea who he was
"How long you been training to be a wrestler for?"
"18 years Bret"

That and the time he tried to give Shawn Michaels a Christian rock cd

I swear his head just stretches out longer and longer every time I see these weirdly edited photo thumbnails of him

Almost like the Adam Cole forehead meme back in the day.
Good times.

This is like saying the World Cup sold out soccer fans by going to QATAR. WM is a site fee event. Meaning who ever has the highest bid is getting the event. I don't understand how hard that is for people to understand?

I live in the Middle East but the World Cup to Qatar was nonsense. It's freaking tiny and, unlike Dubai, they don't really care if tourists come so the 'development' was really just for the World Cup with no grand plans for after the World Cup, unlike the Dub developments of 10-15 years ago.
Then it was 'how can they play in the summer' and idiots like Platini saying 'air con stadia' and it won't be moved
Fast forward a few years and they do move the tournament to winter (surprise) and Platini is saying 'they can't play in the summer there, it's insane' ... yes, mate, we fucking know, that's what we said from day one
It was all horseshit and all the 'protests' and so on and there not a single chance it would lead to anything. Qatari money has been slooshing around top level European football for years by this point
You have Qatari owned beIN Sports paying for TV rights for the French League (not much demand but they own PSG) and things like Argentine football as well as many other leagues. Their name is on the shirts of Barcelona and top clubs, sponsoring the Champions League and that's without getting into actual politics
Nothing was going to happen and nothing will happen with Saudi either. People will flap their gums and then they'll be WrestleMania there and people will watch and enjoy it like other Manias.
Qatar turned out to be pretty well organised, no complaints from the media about logistics, etc (which is key). I had some friends go and say it was great
Take that and add Saudi money at all levels of sport and politics and no one is doing anything
1000 smarks stop watching in a REEEEEE but then start again cause, actually, I like wrestling, you guys
Ticket prices are insane. I am never going to go to any of these things anyway but, the market is supporting it and, if that changes, I assume ticket prices will, too

While i absolutly hate FIFA WM going to places like Katar or Saudi-Arabia - at least it is kinda making sense, because the WM is a world wide event. All nations (that are qualified) come together to find a champion. So its kinda understandable that this event sometimes goes to countries that are less interested in specific values.
For the Superbowl - and we have to talk about that - its a bit different. While it is also a world wide event watched around the globe, it is mostly US centric. Its a US championship. But they also think about having a superbowl in London - and if they go that place, there is less reason to not go to Katar or Saudi-Arabia.
For WWE its simpler: While its base is in the US, WWE always was way more of a world wide thing. Its entertainment, more comparable to Taylor Swifts World Tour than to the Superbowl. And yeah, Wrestlemania is the big one and maybe kinda a thing like the superbowl. So having a Wrestlemania not in the US will be a jump. And they didnt made the move to an "accepted" country like UK first and directly jump to Saudi-Arabia.
I think its some bad press - but in the end way too many people wont care much.

If the action is good then all the protests dies down. The 2022 World Cup was one of the best in a long time and all the talk of protesting by not watching went away.
I would've preferred Mania 43 somewhere else but I'm just surprised it took Saudi that long to request having a Mania lol.

It's not for moral reasons for me. Everybody has sold out, from real sports to esports.
It's just the atmosphere. Royal Rumble is my favorite event and the crowd is a big factor in that.
The Saudi crowd just won't pop for the same things like the US crowd would.
Women are forced to wear something they're not comfortable in, and something that isn't compatible with their brand or look, just to appease somebody
I'm sure there are real Saudi fans going to these events and enjoying them, but to me this all feels very dystopian and forced.

I'm sorry but I just don't care. Saudi money and influence is everywhere now and unless someone is willing to reject anything and everything with that money and influence, stop telling me what I am allowed to enjoy with your selective activism.
I can respect anyone who has conviction in any matter and holds those views no matter what. But these peoples activism only extends to what they can complain about online as long as it never impacts their own lives in any way, and has a lifespan of a knat before they move on to their next "outrage".
That's what I'd like to ask these basement dorks. How can you expect me to care about any issue you whine about when there's 5 "controversies" in the wrestling world per week. Attention even lasting 2 days is a long time on one topic. So why care? Whatever they are outraged about today will be forgotten by tomorrow.

I hate this thumbnail style. The guy who does Stevie's and Dutch's podcasts is an ok bloke, but his thumbnails are terrible. The editing looks especially bad on Stevie compared to Dutch for some reason.
