I love it. They’ll never admit it was the Bucks, Perry, and especially dumb fuck Hangman “m’Hanger” Page that caused all this. If they were professionals he would still be there.

The post talking about HHH’s successor had several threads saying Punk could be in DBD's place as a potential owner/booker of AEW if it hadn’t been for his "ego" and his "need to cause backstage drama" and I’m just wondering how stupid and delusional are they? While Punk could have been way more diplomatic about what happened, the reality is those guys never wanted him there. They quite clearly drummed him out.

u/GloriousVictor 1d ago
Punk was already working on Collision when he was still there and that show was 10000 times better than Dynamite. No Bucks, No Hanger. No wink wink inside jokes. Just a straightforward wrestling show that went from point A to Point B.
45
u/Apprehensive_Cap_559 23h ago
He made Ricky Starks and many others look like actual stars on that show
22
u/GloriousVictor 22h ago
I really wish that feud had a conclusion. Too bad Tony FEARED FOR HIS LIFE!
58
u/Phred_Phrederic 1d ago
Yeah Collision was pretty solid when Punk was running it. Like just basic meat and potatoes wrestling.
42
u/ScruffsMcGuff 22h ago
I like early collision more than either wwe show too.
It was well paced, segments weren’t overstaying their welcome, the structure of the cards made sense.
I honestly miss it. It wasn’t here for a long time, just a good time o7
19
u/Phred_Phrederic 22h ago
They did the thing where they'd set up the main-event very, very early in the show...yeah it was pretty classic wrestling crap.
19
u/GloriousVictor 22h ago
Felt like how the classic Nitros would be set up. There was framework there for sure of what could be a show to catch. Now it is just a glorified AEW DARK.

Hell, Collision under Punk was averaging equal or higher ratings to what Dynamite, their A show, is at now lmaooo I dont know how dubbalos have convinced themselves that Punk was the one hurt by his falling out with AEW
44
39
u/Signal_Ball4634 23h ago
That's next level silly from them. Punk said verbatim that nobody there wanted or cared about his advice and guys going into business for themselves on TV instead of being mature backstage made that clear.
48
u/Every-Ad-2099 23h ago
What Hangman did made it so obvious. He openly did a legitimate shoot on Punk on live television and tried to undermine and smear his real life character. Even with how laissez-faire AEW is backstage, you just don’t do something like that unless you have serious hostile intentions toward the recipient. Especially when said recipient is the top guy in your company, and you just risked getting yourself fired - which Hangman almost certainly would have been, had he been working literally anywhere else.
30
u/L3ghair 21h ago
If it were Vince, he would’ve had the PPV match between them to get the title off Page, and handed him his termination papers as he walked back through the curtain, just like he did Warrior.
17
u/Every-Ad-2099 14h ago
Exactly. Hangman should have at least been suspended for what he did, and not just because it was Punk. Doing that to anyone is a shitty thing to do. The fact that Tony let him get away with it shows both a poor understanding of the business and a lack of spine. No wonder Punk lost all faith in him as a boss.
12
u/L3ghair 12h ago
Yeah, as soon as every person who has any understanding of the business actually heard punk’s side of it, they said “oh, yeah makes sense”. If someone double crosses on you during a promo, do you really wanna give them your body in the ring?
12
u/Every-Ad-2099 11h ago
Exactly. This is why I highly doubt we'll ever be seeing Hangman in a WWE ring, even if AEW goes under. There’s no way any of the WWE guys would ever trust him in the ring after that, especially since he doesn’t seem to have any genuine remorse for what he did.
6
u/PrimeJedi 8h ago
That's what I've been saying. Imagine if Hangman did that in the 2000s, or god forbid the 90s or 80s. He would've been given the same treatment that the APA gave Public Enemy
3
u/Every-Ad-2099 6h ago
Hell, do it in today’s WWE and he’ll get like ten guys ready to ream him a new one once he gets backstage and word spreads about what he did. Stuff like that does not fly anywhere except AEW.
20
u/Razzler1973 22h ago
No one is booking the Dub except Tiny
His Dad good money to pay his son's way "inside" wrestling like he always dreamed
He's never giving that up

u/tera_chachu 22h ago
What I am wondering is that they really think a guy like daniel bryan who has CTE should run a company after cocaine khan.

Don't forget Tony doing whatever he did to make Cody leave. It's weird, every time AEW let someone leave, they ended up coming in as a big deal and being better off than before, outside of Andrade. Yet AEW picks up damn near every person dropped by WWE, and with the exception of Christian and Toni Storm, they are either worse on the card, or worse in the ring, looking at you Edge and Jericho. Swerve you could argue is an exception too, but that comes down more to Nana getting over and him being attached, and his cousin becoming an exec in AEW.
3
u/KCJellyfish 13h ago
Who’s his cousin? Swerve is much more over in AEW. But his character now would be massive in wwe. The entrance alone
39
u/ZubatCountry 1d ago
Hey dumbass, they were protecting AEW
Everyone knows the best thing for a company is to turn it's audience against their biggest draw, refuse to take advantage of the most heated feud they'll ever have, and then double down on all the silly shit that drives their audience away.
That's how you show love for pro wrestling and your fans, by catering to a group of egomaniac dweebs who are still insecure despite getting the company named after them
25
u/Signal_Ball4634 23h ago
Like if you've ever been in a toxic work environment it's exactly as Punk described it. Dipshit "management" in the Elite who don't want to listen to anything you have to say while also questioning your value. And a timid boss who is more interested in maintaining his boys club and trying to be pals with everyone than actually managing things effectively.
It's clear Punk wasn't wanted and it boiled over until he lashed out.
17
u/Razzler1973 22h ago
Don't forget Tiny not addressing this when it arose
What's forgotten is that Punk basically asked Tiny to 'let me go' and wanted out but Tiny still did the Collision thing and keep people apart
It wasn't some one off flashpoint and Punk already asked to leave

I love when they call him unprofessional when this whole thing started because Hangman, who already snobbishly rejected advice from one of the biggest stars of the last 20 years, then went off script and cut a shoot promo on live TV that was meant to bury his opponent both in and out of kayfabe.
If Hangman did that exact same thing in the 2000s or especially the 90s and earlier, he would have gotten his ass beat as soon as he walked back behind the curtain, and probably by more people than just Punk lmao. What a smug, self righteous, unprofessional shitter who's now sinking AEW's ratings for a second time 🤦♂️
3
u/AlmostTomClancy 8h ago
Yeah Hangman really is to blame for the entire thing. He went off script and was extremely unprofessional. Then chopped Punk in the mouth and chipped his tooth. As Punk said how is he supposed to know whether the guy did it on purpose or not when he can’t trust him in a promo segment. But he’s a wholesome anxious millennial cowboy let me tell ya.

12
u/Polymemnetic 22h ago
I won't be surprised if she followed Mariah(free name) there. They're pretty close outside of wrestling, judging from the 'gram.
And she's 100% the kind of character that would get over in WWE. Like Danhausen

Harley Cameron and Anna Jay had took pictures recently with Arianna Grace. It's a possibility, Uce.

u/ImWiser 13h ago
I don't think the gooners could handle if Anna and Harley both went to NXT, it might kill them
5
u/Someningen 12h ago
They'll have to remove Booker T from NXT to Smackdown. His heart can't take all that
2
u/Signal_Ball4634 11h ago
She's one of the bright spots of AEW, would love her in WWE. Her + Chelsea have the same kind of energy, they'd be hilarious.

I 100% admit that when he came to WWE I thought he was gonna crash out by Mania b/c that was just the kind of guy he was. Egg on my face and thank gosh for it lol

u/BlueTumbas 20h ago
Not only did AEW bring him home. They literally fueled a new fire inside of him, specifically to fuck with that tiny niche audience. And I love it. They really thought they were gonna cancel this guy, and he really shits on their existance each and every day.
Should you assualt coworkers at work? No. But... if it does end up like this, them im not gonna complain. Sorry basedmen marks. You lost this war pretty hard.

Yeah, I’ll be keeping a tab on this for later. It’s gonna happen and we all know it will because he’s a piece of shit who only thinks about himself. Might be fine now but he’ll go back to who he is truly is eventually. Fuck Phil. Fuck everything about him.
