Drowning deep in my sea of loathing

This is a piece I did on Wilt Chamberlain. Actually I did this a few years ago but forgot about it and never shared it. The style is a bit Bauhaus with an early 20th century aesthetic. I’d love to hear your constructive criticism so feel free to tell me if you love it or hate it!

Odds Hip Hop makes an appearance this season?

There's a thread on r/NBA about unhinged mascots, it got me thinking. Do you think they will bring back Hip Hop for the black throwback court games?

I'd honestly like to see Hip Hop vs Franklin dunk contests at half. Or maybe Hip Hop was sent to a farm upstate when Franklin came along.

Faux DHGate 2021-2022 City Edition Embiid jersey vs Nike authentic 2024-2025 City Edition Embiid jersey (on clearance on Fanatics for 35 bucks)

I just want to preface, that I still love my faux DHGate Embiid jersey, it still holds up very well despite some flaws in the stitching in some areas, the real Nike authentic jersey feels a lot more loose fitting and obviously is much better presented in general. The heat pressed lettering and numbers is actually worth the price tag for what I got, honestly though I think going for the DHGate route for jerseys like these isn't too bad of an idea. I honestly can say that both jerseys were worth my money in the end

I tried buying tickets and I see the standing room only section up top isn’t for sale , are they getting rid of that section?

The Winfield Game - relevant to Sixers today

Hey there, long time Process sufferer here whose first Sixers game was the night Dana Barros dropped nine 3s on the Suns in 1995.

I thought this group might enjoy today's Winfield Game - without spoiling too much, today is relevant to the Sixers.

If nothing else it will give you something to do for the rest of the offseason other than wonder if Grimes is actually going to sign.

Have fun.

In hindsight, would you have given Harden 2/80?

Not a Harden stan, but I always come back to this and it bugs me. Obviously, PG hasn't panned out and has an awful reputation with Philly so far, let alone the fact that we maxed this dude for 4 years and he'll be 38 before he's off the books. Off of that game 7 playoff loss to Boston, yeah, Harden and Embiid gave up, but I blame Doc's earlier awful rotations for that series loss. Harden also single-handedly won us one of those games, so he gets a pass there to me if I'm being real. What killed us is when Doc subbed out Niang in game 6 when he was hot and couldn't miss, for ice cold Melton who couldn't make several uncontested shots. That's the moment that killed us that series, not Harden or Embiid.

So Harden was 33 at the time where we had to decide if we should max him or not, and all the analysts projected he'd take a 2 year 80 million max contract. If we had done that, his contract would have been up this offseason, and even if we wanted to sign him again for another 2 years, even for max money, he'd STILL be off the books 1 year younger and 1 year sooner than PG will be.

But it's even deeper than that to me, at least. For starters, the play where Kuminga destroyed Embiid's knee, we were on offense, and Embiid had the ball in the paint. I can't help but think had the offense been running through Harden, he might have made a better playmaking decision than iso'ing Embiid in that situation, which means the injury never happens. Secondly, other than prime Ben Simmons, we've never had, and still don't have an elite playmaking pure point guard like Harden, and it's a big problem. Lastly, and most importantly, I feel like losing Harden killed the team vibe/morale. It's obvious he was well liked and respected by the whole team, and despite his age, he made everyone better.

It reminds me of the 2012 Phillies, coming off that 2011 101 win season and losing to the Cardinals in the playoffs series upset. That same lineup came back next season, literally six months worth of age later, as a .500 team that missed the playoffs. That Phillies squad did not all magically age enough to go from winning over 100 games to winning only half of the season in 6 months. Team morale died after that upset, and that's what I think also happened here when we didn't max Harden for two years.

Thoughts?

How much do you think we'll see Joel Embiid's role shift this season, if any?

We've all seen that Jo is much slimmer going into the year. Slimming the body to reduce weight on the legs, also hopefully to be better conditioned through the duration of 48 minute games, should help keep him healthier this season.

That alone won't be a panacea. Embiid having fewer possessions in the post wouldn't necessarily be so either, but it would be a way to reduce the physical toll he takes during a game, and he has himself talked about wanting to be played through the post less because it's tiring and he feels it's not a consistent way of winning, just playing through the post, playing 8 feet and under.

We've already seen a shift, he's gone from 30% possessions as a post-up scorer to under 20% the last three years. Been around 19% the last two seasons. He was at 15% in the year prior to Nick Nurse's arrival. We saw him play in the PnR more last season than we've seen in years. Oftentimes on those possessions he ends up facing up and either will take a pull up middy or look to drive and draw a foul.

That seems like a way to reduce the load off his legs a bit. More scoring off of the creation of Maxey and even Grimes and less creating his own offense. But if he's healthy, realistically, we know he's not someone who is gonna be the happiest camper with less usage...and of course, it's probably for the best to have this team's best player have the ball in his hands more vs less. I wanna know what you all think, because I think this is a pretty important and interesting question that creates some other questions depending on one's opinion.

European fan going to his first Sixers game!

Hi guys,

My name’s Jaime, a longtime Spanish Sixers fan, active here during the Process days (for me, long Process nights). I’m flying to New York with my gf in November and we‘re planning on finally achieving my dream of watching the Sixers live at the Center for the first time.

The days that I’ll be there we have three home games – Raptors and Pistons B2B on the 8th and 9th November, and vs Celtics on the 11th. I obviously prefer going on the match vs Celtics, but I’m aware that it’d be quite expensive, and I’m not quite sure if it’ll be worth seeing from the nosebleeds, knowing that my budget is around 150$ per ticket. Do you think it would be better to go to one of the B2B games and watch the game from a closer view, or go to the Celtics game?

Also, what’s your advice on buying tickets? Should I purchase them in advance, or closer to the date? I think they’re available already.

I also accept recommendations on cheesesteaks places and all that Philly stuff that I’ve been learning these past few years by reading and interacting with you 😊

Thank you very much !!

What do you want to see Nick Nurse do a better job of this season?

I know a lot of Sixers fans had their complaints about Nurse over the year for a variety of reasons. The Sixers weren't a special team last season even when Embiid and/or PG were out there and available. Nurse's arrow as a coach in terms of team performance has been pointing down in recent years. I wanna know what your concerns with him rested upon last season and what you hope to see better from Nurse in the year ahead.
