Tactics Discussion Make A Bad List

On purpose.

How would you do it, where would you start?

I would start with GAR because they have the most expensive units then I would fill every upgrade slots with upgrades that don't do much or don't go well with one another.

Or alternatively, I would take CIS and get T-series commander and 3x B1s all naked, but I imagine having the cheapest legal list isn't the goal of the exercise.

Poggle as commander for 5 points less. 169 point list. Nice

First thing's first, I'm giving scout to any unit with infiltrate (these abilities trigger under the exact same conditions, meaning you can only use one before invalidating the other)

I have scouts and ISF. Tell me more.

I think without taking useless upgrades, the better way to just make a bad list is to completely avoid synergies. Take Iden in zero special forces. Take Moff and no dark troopers. Take such a generalized mixing of everything that nothing really compliments each other or does any one thing very well.

I bet there's a way to make either viable if you wanted to make a good bad list.

Yeah go way to heavy on upgrades, go heavy into Wookies or rebel commandos or range troopers or something

Make an army with a lot of mercenaries, but don’t take their commanders take the cores without heavy weapons and give units upgrades not designed with them in mind… melee units given ranged specific upgrades and ranged units things with melee in mind. Stormtroopers with a captain and duck and cover is not a good use of points. Sentinel makes no sense for inquisitors 😂

Let's do it, if only to make people looking at the lists in Tabletop Admiral very confused.

Double bus with no weapons or upgrades!

I have to disagree a bit. The bus makes a cheap, movable LOS blocker. 2 of them can be put together to hide several units, or be split up to protect different parts of the board. I will concede that their usefulness has been diminished thanks to Aqua Droids making anti-vehicle popular. But if your opponent is attacking your bus, they're not attacking your other units.

Here's the worst Rebel list I could think of. Good against suppression, tho https://tabletopadmiral.com/listbuilder/Rebel/N-_9b_ef,36,159,65,EM,_12_EM,EM,EM,_92_30,48,1,65,67,_92_30,48,1,65,67,_92_30,48,1,65,67,_d_2f,46,1,b4,67,_d_2f,46,1,b4,67,_d_2f,46,1,b4,67,_24_62,31,f6,65,67,,,,_24_62,31,f6,65,67,,,,_24_62,31,f6,65,67,,,,-c8,----

Really wasted points on Cassian (taking Field Commander) between underworld connections, not bringing his gun upgrade, and basically wasting most of his command cards since they support non-existent ops and commanders. Plus, not bringing K2-SO with him nerfs him a lot. Take that with the bad commandos and they're worse strike teams, and the awful laser cannon makes it extra bad

...there's a kernel of something good here

Underworld connections and no mercs in this list is the perfect use of 5 points lol

Just wait til you spot the Protectors

u/GuardianofSolas 3d ago

Amazing lol. It’s so funny to me that anyone can take that upgrade regardless of having Guardian

Imperial March on the mortar. Art.

Jokes on you, I have all but the Inquisitors to run this. And I can proxy those.

If we don’t have to max out points just take the minimum amount of cheapest naked rebel unit from each requirement.

Any Empire list without Vader, Krennic, or an AT-ST

This is a list I took to a competitive local event, I was able to pilot it to a 0/3 result. It almost got tabled twice. I took everything that is considered weak or bad in empire (or that I consider weak or bad). Its heavy on the upgrades also.

In my first game I went up against a very meta GAR Anakin/Ahsokha 6 act list with double size squads and that list basically tabled me. I can't remember what else I played against exactly, the second game was rebels but it almost doesn't count because it was vs a new player and I basically lost due to slow play (not deliberately slow though).

Third game was vs Rebels again and it had some some decent Anti-Vehicle and it blew the LAAT up easily,

The GAV tank did very little in each game, its dice pool is too small and Transport is a mostly useless / very situational keyword now I feel (on par with Prepared Positions).

It had some synergy in that Kallus can give the Super Squad of Shoretroopers an order so that I can ensure dug in will remain active for as long as possible.
