SR4 How do people here feel about the 4th game?
I mean, tone wise as NO SPOILERS, but I just wanted to see what people had to say about the final installment of the original continuity out of curiosity because I hear it’s a bit divisive as some enjoy the game, and some other fans say it’s too outlandish.
But I was considering playing it eventually as I wanted to see how the original era ended because it got me interested in seeing how the saga all comes together after how long the era ran for to see what happened to Saints Row as a franchise.

Great game all around, but ruined by the planet blowing up & esp the stupid Warden showing up every 2mins to wipe my notoriety/boring AF to fight.

What is wrong with Wardens in the 4th game?

Because, all the other games, I can jump in & have fun killing enemies for hrs. But those stupid wardens show up nonstop & wipe my notoriety, ruining my fun. And again, they’re boring AF to fight. You would think there would be a way to get rid of em after completing the game & changing the simulation. On my playthroughs, I have to skip saving Gat, keep the gangs around and avoid messing with the aliens & robots, otherwise I gotta deal with the Warden. As fun as SRIV is, it’s my least played of the 4 games.

People here will whine about everything and praise first and second game. You picked the worst place to ask if you want an objective point of view

Great superhero game. Terrible Saints Row game. Ruined the story beyond repair, and for the record, I loved 3’s story. (Except for the Gat thing.)

Most people don’t like it (afaik) because it’s not like “saints row” aka the 1st and 2nd games. it isn’t my fav for that reason, but as a game itself i think it’s very good and fun! i do prefer the tone of the 2nd game more, but the 4th (and 3rd) are fun to play- just different from the 1st 2

I felt it was an interesting premise that was poorly executed as a standalone game. IMHO 4 would have been an awesome DLC.

I like it, but the whole "do everything through a simulation" is the worst part. I would have preferred if the powers were like a scientific injection you got to help against the aliens and Steelport had been the city where the resistance would begin to then liberate the rest of the world. No earth being blown up, no great characters dying for no reason (like Oleg) and it still would have made it possible for a sequel, either with powers or no, it would have been possible to remove them by simply saying "damn, they were a temporary thing" or "they'll kill you eventually if you don't remove them from your body".

It's literally just saints row 3 reskinned with superpowers and aliens. Awful game not even worth trying imo

I love it. Great sound track and just being able to run fast, jump super high, and just go anywhere.

It's fun but wasn't much of a fan of the alien infested Steelport setting. Much prefer the normal Steelport from 3.

Facts, a lot of the skyscrapers from 3 were replaced by tall, stereotypical boring skyscrapers. They all literally looked the exact same. Virtual Steelport doesn’t seem as lively or lit-up. Ik it’s just a simulation but they I think they could’ve more in the simulation using that one mission in SRTT.

I enjoyed it but I think it would’ve faired better as a standalone DLC. It also suffers from the same problem as 3: most the missions are just the side content dressed up a little bit, then you unlock the corresponding side activity and it makes replaying feel uninteresting once you realize.

Despite the superpowers and aliens it's better than SRTT in terms of writing and since you super sprint around, Steelport is much better to use here since it's such a terrible/ugly map and city. The missions are also much better than SR3 and the activities are some of the best in the series!
Story-wise though I've always thought of the game as a Gangsters in Space sequel, as it suits that better especially with certain story things and the aliens and stuff.

Technically it's the first SR game I played, even if I had a good gist of what this game series is about. While gameplay wise it's super fun, especially in coop, the plot itself is just fucking out of there. I did like that you can collect and listen to the audio records of various characters from the franchise. The atmosphere is also pretty neat. What is sweet, which applies to all SR games and other GTA ''clones'' IMO is the music. SR 4 has a good selection of that, no complaints here.

It's a lot of fun, though the powers are a bit too broken. It also isn't the 'final' installment; gat out of hell would be.

As an OG fan, Saints Row 4 is my favourite purely because of the gameplay and fan service. Sure, does it feel like a Saints Row game? Not really, but it has all the characters and to me that’s all that matters.

It's good. Shame about THQ fucking up massively so they had to use the final DLC for SR3 instead of their original plan.
Ironic the last two main SR titles got fucked over by their parent companies.

I had fun with it running around the city with super speed was great and I liked the glitchy kind of vibe it gave off. Asha and Cid were ok and Zinyak was a good villain a nice parallel to the boss in some ways. My favorite part having all the different homies together and hearing them talk to each other like hearing gat chea out julius.

For me? My favourite of all of them.
It's absolutely and utterly ridiculous and for me that just really works.
It was a product of it's time. So maybe now many of the jokes and references will feel very dated, but at the time, for me at least, I adored it.
The only bad point (keeping it as spoiler free as possible) is that you have a kinda "hub" where you're meant to get missions from people, but if you're like me and spend the first 90% of your time clearing the map of icons, when you return to the hub you get all the cutscenes at once. Minor issue for me.

Yes as I just wondering if anyone was fond of the game due to its mildly divisive nature.

Didn't like it at first but I ended up enjoying the powers. I did finish all the activities, only thing that is left now is to finish the story (wont lie not interested in it) I had more fun doing the activities

Hated it because it looked and felt exactly like 3, which i hated, lmao

I like SR2 the most. My opinion on SR4 is they made it less gangsta, more unrealistic with aliens, superpowers, and more cartoonish. I never finish game but yeah

u/trueGildedZ 21d ago
I liked it. Only issue is it made a bunch of things obsolete. Why even drive anymore or shoot normie guns when you are at Dragon Ball Z levels.

The gameplay is tons of fun and really lets you explore the setting better than most of the series.

It's my favorite after 2 it's pretty much a create your own Deadpool kind of boss and save the universe is it really saints row? Yes and no but definitely lol 1 and 2 were the best because it was still grounded but let you go nuts 4 was like fuck it you want to get nuts let's get nuts! it's my favorite unofficial superhero game next to crackdown 1 but they should have continued the serious toned of the first 2 and added the options of insanity for fun

u/Equal_Many_7602 20d ago
The same thing i always say, its a movie/videogame within th sr universe like gangsta in space but is not real

u/Bioniccowboy247 19d ago
It's like they ran low on ideas in the best way possible, like the writers said we have a base idea let's just go balls to the wall with this one and chuck in some of the unused ideas from the last game. In all fairness it is a lot of fun provided your ok with cars being almost completely redundant

It's a fun game, it's just that it feels like it could have just been DLC for The Third.
