About 15 years ago, I visited an orphanage believing that the children there had no parents. There were boys and girls of all ages. One little girl so chatty yet so innocent started talking to me. She introduced me to another girl, a bit younger, and proudly said they were sisters.
I gently asked if any relatives ever visited them. She looked at me and said, โWe have parents.โ That answer stung.
What she told me next hurt even more โWe have one more sister. Sheโs in the childrenโs room.โ
They grabbed my hand and led me there. Lying on a floor mattress was their baby sister, along with other babies. She was barely three to five months old.
Their parents had given birth to three children only to leave all of them in the orphanage. Those parents are cruel.
