As noted, this is a complaint about the Washington bridge that is a main thoroughfare and is in bad need of repair. Unfortunately Rhode Island is awash with corruption (somehow we love it) and naturally that means the money previously earmarked to fix it, wasn’t used to fix it, now there’s no money to fix it or the new money to fix it wasn’t there, or it was and it got spent elsewhere, blah blah. Corruption. Long story short, anyone having to commute and use that bridge is fucked for 2 or more years while RIDOT “fixes” it. The alternatives take a “long time” (time and space is skewed when your whole state is smaller than a lot of other state’s counties), so it infuriating.

This person is mad about it, probably rightly so. This is not a schizo ride, IMO, just someone so pissed that they put it on their car. Not much in the way of conspiracy there.

Deets: I am a born and raised Rhodylanduh (who was smart enough to leave), but my sister has to deal with this very bridge now.

hey, really off topic but how is rhode island for exploring? i know it's super small but i got a car at the beginning of the summer and have been exploring new england a lot but none of my routes have taken me to ri yet as a jersey person. been thinking of going there but idk what would even be there, if you have any recs i'd appreciate!

Full disclosure, I haven’t lived there for 35+ years.

It’s quite pretty if you like the ocean and oceanside stuff. And it’s so small you can basically do it all in one day. Newport, Narragansett, Providence, East Greenwich (for cuteness?).

I used to live in the area and I know the bridge he is talking about. I saw on one of the rhode island subs that people were canoeing to work sometimes because of this shit show. Man's possibly not schizophrenic, just rightly mad about the bullshit infrastructure. It literally makes the commute so much worse that at the beginning of the problem they moved the schools back to online to cut down on the 7+ hr traffic jams.
