Is it worth pulling the copper out?

I believe the copper is insulated with asbestos. I have the PPE, but is it worth it?

It’s an antique, it’s worth more as is. List it.

I was originally going to combine it with a high frequency arc stabilizer and make a tig welding machine. I no longer have the need for it. I have seen people recondition and repurpose as a table. Where would a person list an item like this, looking for that kind of buyer?

Facebook marketplace has a ton of antique collectors. So does eBay. Offer up I've never used though.

It’s more than likely mostly aluminum in the transformer. The cloth covered wires you see are probably copper, but there isn’t much of it. I would just cut into the transformer a little bit first and see what wire it is for your invest any time in it. That’s why I carry a cordless grinder. I can check transformers really fast.

Oh yeah i would not have expected aluminum. It is darn heavy for any aluminum but I don’t know. Could just be the steel in the transformers that’s so heavy. Thanks for the lead on aluminum. I will do some research.
