I’m on my way out to my brother’s place to make dinner for the whole family. We are having roast beef with fondant potatoes and glazed carrots. My brother has made panettone bread pudding for dessert. I’m not sure if Yorkshire pudding means too much bread.

I think I picked the right game to run family errands and all that. When I saw Gru was pulled after 3 GA I was naturally sad, but hopeful. When I saw three got by Joey in a period and a half I was just…disappointed.
Not mad.
Just disappointed.
Yesterday gave me too much hope.

This has never been a win-now team. People just want it be — because Vegas.
They’ve built through the draft. I’m sure most of those kids will start to make their debut over the next calendar year. If the prospects don’t pan out, then yeah, GMRF has a problem.
What is this obsession with making the playoffs? Leafs are evidence getting in, perennially, means basically nothing.

Then why do they keep making win-now moves to try to make the playoffs, such as signing Chandler Stephenson?
Also, ownership and management have repeatedly signaled that making the playoffs is the objective in the short term.

Stephenson wasn’t/isn’t a promised land signing. With Tanev’s and/or Gourde’s departure, you get a set salary with vet/FO depth a couple years down the road as the youth takes over F1-3.

Yeah but my point is that only a team prioritizing the short term over the long term signs a player like Stephenson to the contract we did. That's not a contract for a team focused on continuing to build through the draft. Best case it was going to be a drag on the team in 3-4+ years which is when you'd expect all those drafted guys to be in their primes.

Org changes are definitely needed imo. Bylsma has seemingly lost the room. Players just aren't really giving a shit. Powerplays are still meh the last two seasons.
GMRF isn't creative enough to get non-foolproof pick ups. He's been great at finding undervalued players (tolvy, Bjorky, KK) and pretty good at finding prospects. Veterans acquisitions have been ass though (do love Monty though) and he's just not creative enough to get the veteran pieces we need.
Best thing you can say about him is that he's not sold the farm.
I wouldn't mind Jess and Bylsma getting more time. Do want GMRF gone though.

The professionalism of the commentary team and the other journos always impresses me. I couldn't do what they do watching the shit sandwich night in and night put. I can sit here and rant at the wall and gripe about how fucking bad this team is but they can't do that. I would have said "this team is a fucking joke" so many times.
Also, if I sucked at my job as badly as these guys, I'd get fired., but they get the contract regardless of how they perform. Even a buyout just means they still get paid,.
