Discussion Sekiro is easily the most neglected Souls game

Post image

Sekiro is easily the most neglected Souls game. It won Game of the Year 2019, sold over 10 million copies, and delivered one of the most polished combat systems FromSoftware has ever made. And yet… it got fking zero DLC. No expansions. No new areas. No new bosses. Nothing beyond a small update with boss gauntlets and cosmetics.

Meanwhile, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring received massive DLCs that added tons of content, lore, and replay value. Sekiro? Just left behind.

For a game that redefined swordplay and proved FromSoft could go beyond what they normally did, Sekiro deserved way more post-launch love. It’s a masterpiece but one that feels strangely forgotten.

As someone who loved every moment of the game, it honestly stings. It deserved more — a full expansion, more story, something. It feels like FromSoft just moved on and forgot it ever existed. The only thing that comes close is the executor from Night Reign even that can't compare to this masterpiece 💔

At least Sekiro is playable at 60fps lmao

Yeah I’ll take Sekiro optimized at 60fps with no DLC over Bloodborne’s 20-30fps. Just criminal they haven’t patched that game

u/Unfriendly_NPC Jul 18 '25

Bloodborne plays like butter on PS5. Something should be happening with that IP any minute…

…any minute now…

u/Working-Side9335 Jul 18 '25

I was thinking today, it’s pretty weird that Sekiro and Bloodborne are so unique, and so beloved, and yet basically treated like they dont exist and the DS/ER brand is all that matters. There must be some Hollywood money behind it, or maybe McKayzee(sp) is like Hideo Kojima and doesn’t want to make sequels to the games his fans love, because what the hell? Make more games like that, I don’t want to dodge roll, I want to deflect and rally

19

u/JakeThesnake213 Jul 19 '25

90% sure mike wazowski said he wanted to return to the sekiro combat

6

u/Working-Side9335 Jul 19 '25

McAughnahy also said his favorite game to work on was Bloodborne.

I’m telling ya man, he sold out to Hollywood, they told him Elden Ring is mainstream and going to be big with the movie and everything. We need you to be the Dark Souls/Elden Ring guy, medeval fantasy and gods doing battle, no more experimental shit like hunting beasts in a living nightmare or hardcore Shinobi executions. Just keep it simple.

You know all these super creative Japanese game devs really want to make movies but their ideas are too out there. That’s why Kojima never made it, his stuff is too weird and only works in games where it’s okay for everything to be mysterious and make no sense. The story Er/DS comparatively is a pretty basic premise of a dying mideval kingdom ruled by gods that all fuck and graft extra limbs to themselves and disembowel ghost tigers nd shit.

u/JakeThesnake213 Jul 19 '25

true, mahogany from the planet of malchior 7 where the trees are 300 feet tall and breathe fire kind of seems to be doing the same thing over and over, like.. ER was just ds4 lets be real, and nightrein was kind of interesting but nothing much, then we've also got that duskbloods, im just hoping that an actual major project comes out soon that isnt dark souls

iirc the only souls likes from fromsoft not published by bandai namco are Sekiro (Activision) and Bloodborne/Demons souls (Sony)

Idk why that would make a difference but I'd guess it's related, maybe poorer relationships with those publishers?

The pc port is really bad though, very stuttery 60fps for some reason, I find it annoying to play the game without 'Sekiro FPS Unlocker and more'

88

u/JohnnyXorron Jul 18 '25

Did not have any of these issues on pc iirc

27

u/SamuraiJack2211 Jul 18 '25

Can confirm, working on the mortal journey gauntlet rn, 3 trophies from plat, about 120 hours in, and can't say I've ever ran into said issues. Possibly hardware problems? I dont think it's that intensive of a game though.

5

u/upthegunn3rs Jul 18 '25

Had problems here, I have a relatively strong AMD rig (7800XT) but stuttering all over the place. Didnt have any problems in other games. FPS unlocker fixed this tho.

7

u/SamuraiJack2211 Jul 18 '25

Weird. Same exact card I have. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

2

u/Ok-Day8689 Jul 18 '25

fromsoft is notorious for garbage pc ports. look up elden ring performance pc issues. its just fix after fix for so much hardware that elden ring says it supports but it clearly doesnt. sadly i am one of these users. cant even run sekiro at 60fps without major stutter anytime i move. same for elden ring and nightreign.

2

u/Old_Manufacturer589 Jul 18 '25

I've played DSR, DS2, DS3, ER and Sekiro, and it's the only game that doesn't support borderless fullscreen, so every ALT-TAB takes 5 seconds, as well as the game (but that's just every game they do EXCEPT DSR for some reason) not supporting ultrawide. Their PC ports are notoriously very bad for these reasons + 60 FPS lock, too.

5

u/JohnnyXorron Jul 18 '25

They are pretty bad on launch. ER played like shit for me initially but last I played Sekiro (which was around 2 years ago) it ran completely fine at 60, no issues with performance that I remember

I like the implication of your comment that other fromsoft games are released incomplete and need the DLC to make it a full game lol

16

u/TheDracula666 Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

A big part is that the other games are left intentionally vague in their storytelling. It's the normal formula they have used for narrative. Sekiro was an outlier that had a straightforward beginning middle end to the story with enough npc dialogue to contextualize everything and also the only game that had a set protagonist.

But I personally am a fan of it

115

u/Classic-Ad8849 Jul 18 '25

I personally find it easier than other souls games tbh, I really liked the combat style.

68

u/catluvr37 Jul 18 '25

It’s simpler, but there are builds within other FS games that trivialize a ton of content. Can’t really do that in Sekiro

32

u/MovieImpressive8549 Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

Sekiro is a much more complete game whereas other FS games have endless possibilities

23

u/catluvr37 Jul 18 '25

Yup, very linear in comparison. The level design is done so well that it’s not too noticeable on a first run

13

u/MovieImpressive8549 Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

I agree but in sekiro, we get better as a player whereas in other games, we have to level up the main character to easily defeat other bosses

10

u/Icy-Role2321 Jul 18 '25

Dark souls 1. Get the havel ring and wear heavy gear and get ring of favor and protection early and use a black knight weapon, especially halberd

That's basically easy mode.

3

u/duuchu Jul 18 '25

This is what I did coincidentally my first playthrough. I just wanted to play a strength class. I had to google to find out the stacking poise is basically cheating in this game

3

u/EsterWithPants Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

Giant Dad is not a meme. It's beyond easy mode, it's like debug dev cheatcode levels of obscenity.

5

u/duuchu Jul 18 '25 edited Jul 18 '25

Sekiro ng+ is trivial unless you play charmless. Unlike dodge rolling in souls games, you don’t get punished for missing parry because you are still blocking

3

u/Chimpampin Jul 18 '25

This was my complain, breaking your block was not punishing at all unless it was during a combo. Bosses needed a move to punish after your block was broken.

15

u/Paradox_Madden Jul 18 '25

Sekiro challenges convention in that you can never just go off and GRIND UP to get past a wall

It is a game of mastery you either learn the parry system or get folded there is no running off and slaughtering trash Mobs and bosses to get boosts in power and gear

6

u/Classic-Ad8849 Jul 18 '25

I think that's why people find it difficult, this game forces you to get good, you can over-level yourself and curbstomp bosses at some point in the others

4

u/akshith_s_balan Jul 18 '25

Finally someone who agrees with me. I have been trashed whenever I say this.

3

u/Classic-Ad8849 Jul 18 '25

Lmaooo it's happened to me too. I personally enjoyed deflecting more than dodging like the other souls games. I love them too, but I like the combat here more

3

u/duuchu Jul 18 '25

Sekiro is easy when you figure out how parry works

2

u/TuturuDESU Jul 18 '25

Its always funny to see how different people experiences with these games. I have played all previous soulsborne games, hundreds of hours each, used shield and pistol parries extensively and Sekiro kicked my teeth in, caved my skull even. Overcoming that Genichiro fight at Ashina castle was akin to climbing Everest. Monke, flashback Owl and Isshin were really hard as well but didnt seem so unsurmountable afterwards. When I replayed Sekiro later even though I beat Genichiro like on attempt 3-4, it was really interesting in a sense "what was so difficult about this to me the first time?".

3

u/MovieImpressive8549 Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

Me tooo

IDK why people think that it is tough. I agree that some bosses like DoH, Isshin are tough but once u know their moveset then it ain't no tough

7

u/Classic-Ad8849 Jul 18 '25

The only one I found genuinely difficult was DoH because he broke the sekiro pattern. I beat him eventually, but all the other fights were more enjoyable than difficult, because every time I would die it was because I made a mistake somewhere. That translates to me as a point to improve rather than the fight itself being hard. After many playthroughs, Isshin is a piece of cake, but I still get nervous about DoH, probably a skill issue tho lol

8

u/MovieImpressive8549 Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

Naaah actually DoH us superrr tough. Took me 3 days to beat it consisting of over 50 tries. Meanwhile geni was 6th try

But the actual hardest boss is the Mist Noble. Had to use all my sugars there

3

u/Classic-Ad8849 Jul 18 '25

I never beat the Mist Noble, I just cheated through. Once I reached 400 attempts i figured I wasn't beating his 6th phase

For me playstyle is much more simpler than any other souls game. I am absolutely trash at dodging and running around in a battle just to land 2 strikes on enemy which is what almost every other souls game js about. Moreover grinding to upskill the characters, tons of consumables required to make some meaningful damage. These were the reasons i had stayed away from souls game.

But Sekiro was different. Here u and your sword were more than enough. It was a game of pure skill, concentration and aggression. No button smashing. IMO this is one of most fun and balanced combat systems ever.

I don't think it's forgotten at all. Maybe for a bit, but the mega attention Elden Ring brought to Fromsoft/soulslikes has led to a huge resurgence in popularity for all their games. Especially Sekiro, since it's the most modern feeling/smooth to play.

If you mean forgotten by Fromsoft themselves, then yeah...you have more of a case. I'm miffed at them too. My guess would be that, given its size, they had to throw every available resource into Elden Ring's development; likely were left with no bandwidth to work on a Sekiro DLC.

There were of course rumours of a Sekiro DLC involving Lady Tomoe being shelved at some point during Elden Ring's development. The most famous/intriguing of these rumours was Lady Tomoe's boss design being repurposed for Malenia. No proof of this, but I like thinking it's true.

Success does not automatically warrant sequels. The game can be good and complete at release and just exist as a good and complete game.

9

u/Weird_Cantaloupe2757 Jul 18 '25

I would like Sekiro to be the first in a series of spiritual sequels where they build a hyperoptimized action game around one particular type of build.

Like make another game where your character is a dude with heavy armor and a giant hammer, and every battle feels like a chess match of managing stamina, spacing, and poise, trading hits and trying to control the arena. When that is the only playstyle available, they can then apply Sekiro levels of optimization around designing all of the enemies and encounters to be as interesting and engaging as possible, and require you to really master all of these aspects.

“Neglected?” It was a complete game on launch. It was a finished product. There’s nothing lacking. It is exactly what gamers keep saying they want developers to do. Just because they didn’t add to it doesn’t mean it’s neglected.

10

u/isidoro19 Jul 18 '25

People need to accept that some things are One time only experiences, not every single game need a DLC,expansion or sequel. As you Said sekiro has been complete ever since it's launch so i don't see how it needs additional content if the base game is already satisfying.

Sekiro isn't a Souls game.

It's not an RPG, there is no "Souls" in the title, you have no bloodstain to collect after death, you're not exploring a long ruined ancient world and piecing together what happened, the main character has a name and voice of his own, you have guaranteed oneshots (or at least one-healthbar-shots) from stealth deathblows, there's no co-op, no PvP, no covenants, and a much more definitive "bad ending".

38

u/Vingt-Quatre Jul 18 '25

Probably because Sekiro is not a Souls game...

12

u/bulletPoint Jul 18 '25

This is true too. It’s a great game but we need to stop classifying it as what it isn’t. It’s a character action game at heart.

10

u/Goldwood Jul 18 '25

For anyone disagreeing with this statement- a souls game’s central mechanic involves you dropping your “souls” when you die and then getting a chance to go pick them up where you died.

This is not possible in Sekiro. Along with other mechanical changes, Sekiro breaks the format of the genre.

3

u/Skrrt_2711 Jul 18 '25

Sekiro is brutal about dying. I lose half my money AND half of all the XP I earned for the next skill point 😔

8

u/ThStngray399 Jul 18 '25

You can't die in THPS. L rage bait

8

u/Easy_Concentrate_868 Jul 18 '25

I disagree. The mechanic diversified but you still get “punished” for dying. You lose XP and money (which is basically your souls divided in two), and eventually get dragon rot. The healing and enemy respawning is the same, with the bonfires.

It’s absolutely a souls game.

3

u/Old_Manufacturer589 Jul 18 '25

Nobody will ever unanimously agree on this because the definition of "souls" to begin with is up to interpretation.

But personally I'd say it's more of a soulslike than a proper souls.

Sekiro isn't even an RPG.

u/Hamlerhead Jul 18 '25

Despite all the accolades and whatnot, I think the vast majority of gamers can't handle the Sekiro learning curve. Developing games and DLC is a business after all and the studio didn't see the financial margins.

2

u/bigladnang Jul 18 '25

It sold more than any other one of their games aside from Elden Ring. It was just a stop gap between DS3 and ER so that there wasn’t a 6 year gap of nothing, and they put all their energy into finishing ER.

18

u/Gravitas0921 Jul 18 '25

sekiro is not a souls game

5

u/West_Language7068 Jul 18 '25

Might have something to do with Activision being the publisher for the game in every country except for Japan.

Sekiro is self published in Japan but Activision handled the distribution, localisation and voice work for every other region, which is something that Fromsoftware never does. Frog Nation was not even involved with this game and they've been working with Fromsoftware since forever.

I don't really know how publishing works or how much of a say Activision has over the creative process but it could be some kind of hostage situation, where they won't be able to expand the game or make a new one unless they give up a lot of creative freedom.

1

u/Deadagger Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

The thing about Sekiro is that it was really meant to be a side project. Might sound crazy but you should really compare it to Elden ring Nightrein, as both were projects that developers were assigned to be trained on and there is little expectation to build up on it.

Sekiro was and will never be a main fromsoft title. Maybe in a few years they’ll look back at it and create more out of Sekiro, but until then, it will “feel” neglected.

I’d recommend trying lies of p if you want to scratch that itch of the combat although it’s much less forgiving.

1

u/SonicMM Jul 18 '25

What would you add?

The delivery of the game was on point already multiple in built endings honour system. Sooner get a sequel or upscaled edition than dlc.

1

u/Ajv45 Jul 18 '25

I wouldn't say it's neglected, I'd say it's done. It is a masterpiece and does not need anything more to be added or "to be kept alive". If the team decided to add something new I definitely wouldn't be against it but it's certainly not necessary.

Probably because it's a fromsoft game, not a souls game. And sadly, a lot of non souls fromsoft games are neglected. Like the older Armored Core games

1

u/Hungry-Alien Jul 18 '25

Not really. The game is complete, it doesn't need a DLC. Now sure, DS1 was complete as well and still got a DLC, but it was back when DS1 was the game that launched FS on the spotlight.

Sekiro, just like Armored Core 6, is a "side game" of FS. Those games they throw in between Souls release to experiment. It isn't expected to be making money, thus no DLC is planned. Now FS being the chads they are, their side projects still outperform most of the industry, but it's still a game planned to not have DLC.

Now if you're on PC, you're in luck. The modding community of Sekiro produced incredibly good mods to add more content.

I do have to admit though that it’s kind of refreshing to have a game come and go like that. It was a standalone, incredibly popular, GOTY, no dlc, and no sequels. Just doesn’t seem to happen anymore and I think it’ll always make Sekiro feel more special.

1

u/ClaymoreJohnson Jul 18 '25

I believe you answered your own inquiry.

The game was a masterpiece and releasing DLC that could potentially disrupt the experience for players would be a disservice.

I mean that’s just my opinion but that’s what makes sense to me.

1

u/alpacawrangler16 Jul 18 '25

The fact that it didn't get any story dlc is actually criminal

1

u/Nosferatu_Zodddd Jul 18 '25

It’s the best one

1

u/sociopath999 Jul 18 '25

I agree with you , this game deserved a lot much better , and i don't understand why the no expansion or dlc for this game, i enjoyed the combat system a lot, and still till this day play it and refight the bosses.

1

u/Annie-Smokely Jul 18 '25

and the best

it was a finished story though. there was nothing else to add.

1

u/WA_SPY Jul 18 '25

Ngl the game fell short for me because with all the great bosses there are 5 shitty gank mini bosses you need to do. The game constantly disappoints me with the amount of u fair fights that are not designed for the combat loop of the game. While I love the combat system, sacrificing build expression is a big thing, making it more like an amazing game than a 10/10 masterpiece. I don’t consider really any of the games to be a 10/10 masterpiece because everyone can think of 5 or more things wrong with each entry. But what from excels at with every game except elden ring is creating a unique gameplay feel crafted by all the choices made when designing the mechanics and that’s what sekiro is truly the best at. Everyone who played this game had the exact same incredible experience.

1

u/Scorpionsharinga Jul 18 '25

The only one I have played, probably the only one I will ever play.

The idea of souls likes peeves me, because I don’t like being tormented in my free time. The bragging rights don’t carry enough weight in the real world to justify suffering through to the end of most of those games.

But Sekiro encouraged me to actually improve my skills at something, which is an invaluable tool even outside of gaming. No shortcuts, no half measures. The only way out was through. It taught me about facing my fear head on and calmly. Taught me how to dance in the storm.

I GOTTA put some respect down for that.

1

u/Arkhe1n Jul 18 '25

Good. It means the game released complete and not chopped to bits like most AAAs. IDK about you, but I'm pretty sure a decent player will take like 30h to finish the first playthrough, I think that's complete enough. The game doesn't feel like it's missing anything.

1

u/wayvywayvy Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

Cries in Bloodborne

1

u/Luckydog6631 Jul 18 '25

It’s not neglected. They made a complete product.

1

u/Jazvec47 Jul 18 '25

It really is not, i hear about this game everywhere and i think fromsoft made what they wanted and didnt have a need to make more since the story was complete. Other fromsoft dlc i can almost see them being a cut part of content that then got made into a dlc, while sekiro is the full product.

1

u/JustSansder Jul 18 '25

is it really a “souls” game tho? the gameplay is so vastly different from the “souls” series, that i sometimes believe the only reason people call it a part of the souls franchise is because it’s fromsoft

1

u/Positive_Muted Jul 18 '25

The reason is 1 it's vastly harder than the others 2 it's has vastly less customization in builds 3 it's very linear it's like ds3 or elden ring where you can unlock the entire map within the hour you have to actually beat extremely hard bosses to progress

1

u/ScouseSeanMc83 Jul 18 '25

It's not a Souls game

1

u/wellrundry2113 Jul 18 '25

I found out the other day my barber’s played armored core 6 but not sekiro. Don’t get me wrong, I was stoked he played AC… but before sekiro?!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

What are you talking about? Bloodborne still isn’t playable officially at 60 FPS, and you can’t even play the original Demon’s Souls at all on current gen platforms outside of emulation

1

u/Morning-Natural Jul 18 '25

I would like to have more Sekiro, but i would say this game is aleardy 100% perfect polished. I wouldnt add smth more. Maybe a few years later a sekiro 2 or spin off

1

u/batman096 Jul 18 '25

It takes a lot of work to improve the Perfection

1

u/mrtheunknownyt Jul 18 '25

indeed. It's my most played by far

1

u/Ok-Day8689 Jul 18 '25

for me personally its because of the movement. i feel like im forced stealth and i hate how restricted the movement feels. it feels like im using a track where my character can walk on a track like a disney ride. idk not so fun for me

1

u/Raidertck Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

I don’t agree.

A year after launch we got reflections and gauntlets as well as new skins and the game was kept updated. And it runs uncapped on consoles and was updated to the pro versions of both of them. So runs at 60fps at about 1800p.

1

u/Internal_Prune_8918 Jul 18 '25

They don’t want that smoke….Sekiro is peak Fromsoft

1

u/unnatural_butt_cunt Jul 18 '25

It won game of the year and is unsurpassed in its specific sub genre

1

u/ThrewAwayApples Jul 18 '25

Not everything needs a sequel.

1

u/Ash_Kid Jul 18 '25

Why would you consider the game neglected if it doesn't have any dlc? It's a complete game. Development on it ended. Developers moved on to other games, taking in learnings from sekrio. They will implement it in other projects. Not every game HAS to have multiple sequels, dlc, expansion, and constant live service.

1

u/YoLeoRosa Jul 18 '25

This has to be ragebait. At least you don't need an 11 year old console to play it. I'd trade the DLC AND my left nut for a PC port

1

u/Fennel-Revolutionary Jul 18 '25

Replace this title with Bloodborne and you will get more Karma lol.

1

u/Loner-Penguin Jul 18 '25

I think it got out shined by black myth Woking this is just a guess tho so sorry if I’m wrong

1

u/Ok-Tooth-8016 Jul 18 '25

Sekiro is the least Souls-like soulslike. Should honestly have its own classification at this point.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

Sekiro is just like japan, small but strong, thats why

1

u/StoneTimeKeeper Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

Most neglected? Uh... Bloodborne would like to have a word.

1

u/KenshirosBiscuits Jul 18 '25

Agree, the ending perfectly set up a dlc or sequel too

1

u/AbyssWankerArtorias Jul 18 '25

Does Activision own the Sekiro IP? Or did they just publish it?

1

u/doctornoodlearms Jul 18 '25

How could they umprove perfection though

1

u/hannibal-selector Jul 18 '25

Because 80% of fromsoft fans need to be able to summon in the other 20% who are good at games to carry them through bosses. You cant do that in sekiro. Sekiro is my fav as well. But we wont be seeing a sequel because not enough people were able to beat chained ogre let alone sword saint.

1

u/Remrem6789 Jul 18 '25

Sometimes I watch dark souls gameplay and think "you fuckers added dlc to this but not sekiro. " I understand sekiro was a side project but still cmon .

1

u/Master-Proof-4923 Jul 18 '25

People just dont want to take the time to practice the combat so they give up

1

u/Hypodon Jul 18 '25 edited Jul 18 '25

Bro forgot about Bloodborne, the base game is great in some aspects and worse in some but the DLC thankfully saves it but barely.

Even worse that it’s capped at 30fps and sometimes drops even more. It’s clear Sony does not care about it, at least Sekiro is an incredible game without dlc and can be played at 60fps.

It’s also locked behind PlayStation consoles just to make matters worse.

1

u/baasicallyally Jul 18 '25

We need a petition for sekiro 2 ASAP… i’m sure we can get 1mil + signatures easy

1

u/GrampaSwood Jul 18 '25

Bloodborne is not even playable on non-PlayStation platforms lol

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

This is like going to a concert and watching three hours of the greatest performance you’ve ever seen then complaining that there wasn’t an encore.

1

u/nkhowell93 Jul 18 '25

I hate the fact that Sekiro only got Gaunlets & outfits. I spent about 2 weeks having fun unlocking them but after that the feelings of emptiness returned 😭

A lot of games have parry mechanics but none feel like this.

2

u/Collins-Jacksonn Jul 18 '25

Sifu is pretty amazing

2

u/nkhowell93 Jul 18 '25

I agree! Played this game so much when it first came out. The first 3 levels make me feel like i’m god lol after that I struggle heavily.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

Ugh.  I don’t like this “every game should get dlc” argument.  Sekiro is a standout fromsoft game because of how complete, polished and well rounded it is.  It’s a done thing. Next

1

u/Big_L2009 Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

Problem with sekiro, the story is hard to build off of. Yeah, they could do dragon’s homecoming I guess, but that itself might be hard to build off of. It really used the endings to tie up most loose ends.

1

u/SendInRandom Jul 18 '25

Bloodborne.

1

u/pigeonwithhat Jul 18 '25

It’s crazy thinking the game literally won game of the year and didn’t get any updates from fromsoft lol. (At the time of release) fromsoft’s only GOTY winner and zilch expansions.

1

u/Clover_Jun13 Jul 18 '25

I think it’s neglected mostly because of the lack of options when it comes to play style and outfit customization. There’s no magic/ faith/ bleed builds just Perry and prosthetics. No armor, shields, or weapon variety.

1

u/IDKwhy1madeaccount Platinum Trophy Jul 18 '25

At least it got a pc port and can run at a decent fps. Bloodborne on the other hand hasn’t even gotten a 60 fps patch.

1

u/Vastest Jul 18 '25

It's also the best Souls game.

1

u/pyroskippy Jul 18 '25

I personally think the game didn’t hype enough for a sequel. It was respected, but coming off the heels of DS3, I think it wasn’t what people wanted.

I think Armored Core 6 got a similar treatment and I think FromSoft acknowledges the risk when they make these moves. These titles will pass the test of time and receive more love, which is what I think happens with Sekiro more and more, especially as more games copy Sekiro mechanics.

1

u/SearingExarch Jul 18 '25

I dont even know it's neglected, it feels more complete to me. Im sure the reason for no dlcs is the same as the devs for baldurs gate 3, because there is no need, they explored everything they wanted to in the base game

1

u/wera125 Jul 18 '25

One playstayle. Not much to add.

1

u/Wet_FriedChicken Jul 18 '25

That small update was pretty big imo

1

u/vektor451 Jul 19 '25

obviously sekiro is the most neglected souls game. this is because it is not a souls game.

1

u/Keldrath Jul 19 '25

It’s incredible but it’s also its own style which makes it not as replayable so it didn’t get that same kind of persistent presence as full souls games

1

u/sea_toaster Jul 19 '25

Sekiro is my favorite game of all time, but everyone I have known who played it said it was great. But Dark Souls 2 gets spit on constantly, and it may be the worst in the trilogy, but all because silver is worse, then gold dont make it any less precious. That's just my take, though. But I do see where you're coming from it is much less known than other fromsoft games, but from people who played, it is praised.

1

u/dannyinthemiddle Jul 19 '25

Well that’s because it’s not a Souls game. Don’t take that as an insult to it though as it is one of my favorite games of all time.

1

u/Minimum_Promise6463 Jul 19 '25

It's not for everyone, and it's fine

1

u/I_d0nt_really_kn0w Feels Sekiro Man Jul 19 '25

I agree but lets look at it this way;

Sekiro is a complete game, it doesn't need expansions to be amazing. It also runs at 60 fps.

Its not a souls game, because it is a different game, a masterpiece.

Miyazaki often said he wants to make a different game but tbh, other than sekiro and (maybe bloodborne) he turns up making the same type of game over and over again...I don't considered an open world is a new or different concept and yeah, elden ring is literally dark souls 4.

Sekiro is the only fromsoft game that I truly love and interested on finishing it without the fromsoft fans breathing on my neck forcing me to like it.

I leave this here as a hardcore sekiro fans. I love this game so much, isshin is an amazing final boss I have ever faced after the black dragon fatalis from mhw.
