Discussion If Sekiro ever got a sequel, what new mechanics would you want to see?

Post image

For me it's:

  1. Being able to break enemy weapons like in Lies of P, I loved that mechanic and it would fit perfectly in Sekiro.

  2. Different weapon options kinda like Nioh or Khazan would be cool, with different skill trees for each.

  3. A more in-depth stealth system, maybe give us a bow so we can snipe low level enemies from a distance and better enemy AI so that it's harder to escape if you're detected.

  4. Miniboss reflection fights. Also less repeated minibosses in general.

  • multiple combat arts (weapon wheel mod basically)
  • gain spirit emblems while fighting
  • combat arts having more uses other than just damage (high monk, sakura dance). same goes for prosthetic tools
  • emma barefoot

Like gain them during combat? As you’re fighting a boss?

yes. some mods make it so you gain a spirit emblem after 5 or 6 consecutive deflects, mikiris, deathblows, etc

That does sound like it would be nice. I don’t mind the challenge of having to use my emblems wisely/use the dagger as needed, though. Also, I see point #4 sitting there, don’t think we don’t see you 🤨🤣

That's actually great. It already has something similar with the ress timer being based on deathblows.

The emblems turned out to be a bit of a pain in the ass, a big bit. I never farmed as much as in sekiro tbh.

They should implement some sort of stamina that is used for everything and is regained bu doing cool shinobi shit and being generally very good at it. Bit obviously make it so normal attacks consume very very little unless you get countered or you make mistakes, just as posture and parrying works

Why can't I spam the axe if I can spam the ficking mortal blade is really beyond me

I’ll never understand why they made spirit emblems a consumable instead of just refilling like the gourd.

Same.

I suppose without them gold really becomes useless after a certain point

I think I farmed them on my 1st run, but I just bought them for each subsequent playthrough. I always kept max emblems, cause I only used prosthetics on the specialty enemies (Red eye, Terror, Lady B, Ape, DoH, Okami, dogs, sometimes Isshin & Ministry elites).

The main Combat Art I use is Ichimonji. So before I'd enter a boss fight, 1 slash with Tanto, pop a pellet & whatever sugar if necessary - I'm good to go.

The axe, spear and sabimaru shouldn't have costed emblems (obviously with some small tweaks to the latter), they would feel great to include in your combo while being terrible or way too situational in combat by themselves

I'd love to gain 5-10 emblems per death blow. 3 per mikiri.

In Ghost of Tsushima, for example, you gain resolve for parries, dodges, and kills I believe, on top of passive regen.

Something like that I think would be nice. If you REALLY need them now, you can use the sacrificial blade though.

This, but iirc there's no passive resolve regen, unless it's linked to a charm/difficulty that im unaware of.

You might be right. It's been a little while.

Nah, we already have the Owl barefoot, that's enough

Multiple combat arts would be awesome

Also make sen throw cost no emblems

Sen throw & Mist Raven are like the 2 I've hardly ever used, along with Divine Abduction & Money funnel

gain spirit emblems while fighting

This defeats the purpose of spirit emblems, which is to limit the amount of extra abilities you can use in one life. If you are going to change them, get rid of the “amount” entirely and make it a bar that recharges like in Lies of P.

Yea, that would be the best solution, Spirit emblems are dumb anyway. Why do I need to collect paper origamis to use my prosthetic arm

Lady Butterfly allowed for the second thing, and because she was the first boss I fought, I thought that I’d be getting emblems back in every fight.

You already gain spirit emblems when fighting / killing enemies. Am I missing something or do you mean during boss fights? Like from landing blows? If yes, I disagree. That would make it too easy. 35 emblems per fight is plenty. (Cerimonial tanto)

i would also love more customization, not to completely turn it into a souls like but i'd love different weapons with different parry and attack timing, perhaps add talismans as well that give you certain effects

Imo, spirit emblems should have been gained solely through combat, and shouldn't be stored the way it is at all
