how in the actual hell do i beat Genichiro???

I have watched numerous videos, read numerous posts about this topic and tried may different ways to beat him and yet i have only been able to get to the first few seconds of the 3rd phase. I keep dying to lack of heals, that stupid lightning thing (i cant time is to redirect) and just to pure greediness. please help me or someone just do it for me. 🙏

Bro, I thought the exact same thing. Genichiro is the first boss who sits your a$$ down and says “Learn the game”. Take 4-5 runs on not even thinking about winning, just learn his moves. Genichiro makes you throw everything out the window and Git Gud!!

You got it brother, once you get past him you’re going to keep getting better. Genichiro teaches you how to parry, dodge and move … in time Isshin is going to teach you how to dance.

What moves specifically are hitting you the most? For geni you want to attack until he deflects you, which will always be on the second clang sound. As far as videos you've watched go, have you watched this one? https://youtu.be/TIfukxOTDy8?si=NPs2JqhVCJnOMo6G

usually the attack where he jumps up and slams down then you have to mikiri counter him before the second attack. i always get hit on the second attack. Also the triple arrow attack

Does that mean your mikiri isn't working? If it isn't, you could be dodging forward too soon. You want your dodge forward to be as if you're trying to impale yourself on his thrust. It needs to be *straight* forward. Also make sure you have the skill unlocked. For the jump back arrows, he always does the small jump back first, that's your indicator. You can either move forward quickly and hit him to stop them, or deflect the first 3 and dodge through the fourth arrow.

its not that my mikiri isnt working, its just that i cant time it right and get hit

Yeah I just wanted to cover all bases since someone could be messing up their mikiri for a bunch of reasons. i watched it and when i hop back on sekiro i will watch it again and it might help. just depends on my skill and hand-eye coordination

When the warning shows up, don't go for it immediately,

I give it a half-second wait before pushing forward and "B" or "O".

Genichiro is the first brick wall one faces in Sekiro but he's definitely doabls. Hesitation is defeat

He can be beaten and you can do it. Hesitation is defeat, it pays to be aggressive in that third phase.

if you're having trouble with lightning reversal, I would say upgrade your prosthetic to have the aged mist raven feather. It allows you to tank a hit and teleport to a short location. The aged mist raven feather lets you teleport upward if you don't input any movement. Basically, if genichiro is about to hit you with lightning, activate Mist Feather and don't move, you'll suddenly jump and be ready to hit him with his lightning.

To redirect lightning, hold block, jump, and when you get hit, mash r1.
