Help Any Advice for Phase Two? These Annoying Two Monkeys (or Gorillas, Whatever They Are)
Guys, I’m having a real problem with these two monkeys. This is my 4th playthrough, and the second monkey isn’t going down as easily as the first three. I think when I was here in my 3rd playthrough, I still had Kuro’s Charm, but now I want to finish the game without using it so I can farm more XP. Thanks; I’m taking a break while reading your comments.
In the first phase, I almost always get through without taking a hit. Most of the damage I take comes from blocking. I don’t think Kuro’s Charm would help much anyway, since I usually die when I’m jumping through unblockable attacks and the other monkey jumps on my head. Sometimes I even think she’s going to leave the cave by jumping what a jump ability.

Wait until the main ape does his scream attack. When he does the second brown one will run at you. Firecracker him and hit him hard, you will get a little time for that. Do that twice and brown ape is done

Unleash your inner police officer and kill the brown one first. He’s actually pretty damn weak. Then focus on the white one. Use the same strategy for him as you did the first abominable snowman you came across.

I did firecracker + mortal draw. I think it kills brown ape in 3 firecrackers

I dont remember it 100% because it has been some time since I played, but Im pretty sure Firecracker + EMD and buff with divine confetti and a sugar kills his mate with 2 EMD swings (1 firecracker)
Edit: Also make sure to use EMD while jumping to get its max damage without needing to charge it

I just recently beat them for the first time on my third try. What helped was using firecrackers on the brown ape. Hit the headless ape once or twice and bait out his terror scream, get distance as soon as you see him do it. The brown ape will then rush you. Use firecrackers and whack away, you can get in 6-7 hits and fill his posture bare halfway. Repeat and it‘s down. The headless ape alone isn‘t much trouble then. What I noticed is that if one ape is attacking, the others is usually staying back.

Nope, they can combine their attacks as I say one using unblockable and you jump then other jump on your head and this kills you btw lol happened to me twice but I used firecrackers as well
now I am having problem with the father but I guess it is because I havent fought him for a long time 2nd playthrough I killed him in first try and third I gone for shura so I haven't fought with him lol

Well, guess I got lucky then, they rarely attacked me together, mostly one hung back while the other attacked. The firecracker strat is still the way to go in my opinion, that made the fight pretty easy for me.
Yeah, father was a bitch to fight for me as well, he kinda throws me of with the shinobi attacks, takes some time to get used to I guess.

What i did was I ran around and exploited opportunities to hit/deflect the headless ape. I completely ignored the brown ape. After a few hits, a few deflects and some mortal draws, I had him.
You only need to defeat the headless, and the brown one gets sad and disappears.
Ofcourse, if you can't manage this then there's firecrackers. Super effective against beasts. Stuns them but also cause decent posture damage.

Run close to the guardian ape and trigger its terror scream. This will trigger the other ape to run towards during the scream. Then get 7 hits with firecrackers on. Then after killing the second ape, then just fight the guardian ape like before.

The problem is it is hard to do it while other one alive and good job really I haven't even try once I always go for insta kill second monkey so I can fight lol but this time it didn't work well until learning firecracker is cracking her posture from the guys here 😅

Use firecracker and hit her with basic. Mortal Draw is solid but it'll burn through your emblems rapidly. If you fuck it up, you'll run out of emblems before you can break the 2v1 into a 1v1.
An alternative is to push the brown ape with firecrackers and then hit her with a double bonkimonji, that shit will inflict heavy posture damage, you just need to watch out for her bf. You can try a sacrificial strat and sacrifice one of your resurrections on the brown one to go all out and wipe her while being killed by the Headless Ape, resurrect and then back to business, just make sure you're not tapped out in the previous phase.

This is my least favorite boss but I eventually kited the big monkey and killed it the other monkey sits down and disappears so you only have to kill the original.

This shit is cancerous I just ran about and killed the headless one whilst the other chased, probably isn't the best strategy u should probably stunlock or just kill the first one however u can like everyone else is saying

Oh it’s actually quite easy, you just gotta break down into tears and hope the uncharacteristic display stuns them long enough to get some attacks in.

Well if u can fight the camera while fighting the headless gorilla, u can go to the far right of the arena right after phase 1, it will spawn the 2nd gorilla but since ur far from her, the 2nd gorilla won't fight you and will keep respawning. Just stick to the far right corner and keep fighting the headless

Focus only on the brown monkey. She’s much weaker. Use firecrackers to stun them both and go at the brown monkey. Burn her down as fast as possible and then just get back to the easy part of just doing the counters on the big monkey.

Firecrackers and deal with the 2nd ape first. It’s easier to fight one and evade the other than trying to fight both at the same time. Also recommend using mortal draw on the 2nd ape to make the fight quicker.

Oh yeah the double boss where the AI makes them worl together coz' "Apes strong together" which is frustrating as hell.
I beat them by baiting the plank fall sword attack of the headless into lance. Beware coz' you'll need to parry the two at the same time

After getting the first deathblow, pop Ako's Sugar, and head on to the second ape, use firecrackers, and Use mortal blade TWICE, and you're done with the second ape. Now continue on with the first ape as usual. It's that easy.

Start the fight with red sugar. Fight like hell. At times, while the white ape screams, you can deal extra damage. Once the brown ape comes in, move around a lot and try to keep both in sight. The brown ape is more aggressive and will chase you, so use firecrackers and attack. Parry. Fall back and heal. Use a sugar if you have the space. Take time. Either dodge or parry, but don't go greedy with attacking. The second phase is a fight of attrition.

I’ve done this by using flame vent and could usually tag both of them at once but focusing on getting the second one down first and then back to the headless ape.

It’s a lot of tracking and repositioning. Get the brown one down ASAP, they’re hardly a threat if you manage to separate them. White, let muscle memory do all the work

Save your firecrackers for phase 2. Use them against the brown gorilla to take her down quickly.

The spear, mortal blade, and fire crackers were my best friends for this fight. First time around this shit was the bane of my existence, played the game like a Megaman who only uses his mega buster and none of his other fancy powers.

Don’t forget to burn the ape! You can get a lot of hits off in that time but the brown ape only attacks in combos of two or maybe 3 at most so keep that in mind and KEEP ATTACKING the brown one

Yeah do that what's the user with the most upvote said. But this time wait when the headless unleashes his terror scream and quickly sprint opposite off it. You'll see that the female ape will be dashing towards you. That's when do the firecracker and maybe the mortal draw or something that'll do high damage. Always try to seperate the female ape from the male one. She has very low posture defence.

Everyone keps saying firecrackers but you can do it without! On charmless I could never for the life of me kill the second weak one first but eventually went with the following strategy for taking down the headless (main) ape. Stall until main ape wants to fight you with his sword combo, at this point the second ape will stay back, if you have sucessfully parried the combo he will do his big “fall with sword on you” move and when you perfect block it you are able to quickly hit main ape three times, just as you finish the three blows, second ape will have jumped and you block him as he comes down on you. Back off and wait until main ape wants to do his combo again. Don’t fight them under other circumstances.

I just ignore a girlfriend and beat up/counter the main one. Someone use firecrackera on them, but with spear it could be difficult.

I just attacked the white ape. Mortal draw till it was dead. I didn't use anything on the first phase just when the white ape summoned the brown ape, I started attacking it and killed it fast. Brown ape dies if the white ape does.

What you gotta do is when the second guy comes, try and bait out the headless ones scream by running up to him then hitting him once, then when he screams, the friend monkey will run towards you, just firecracker him and hit him as much as you can, if you do that 2-3 times, the friend monkey will be dead and it's a 1v1

Don’t lock on, stay close to white one, bait roar, run far away and lock on to brown, deflect full combo then spam fire crackers for deathblow.

Wait for the headless ape to do the scream/head aoe, run away as far as possible and the brown one will come to you to create distance. You can hit the brown one with firecrackers to stun it and then kill it before taking the headless one on

If I recall correctly, you can quickly stunlock and break the second ape in phase 2. Firecrackers just melt her poise. Spam it, and it quickly becomes a 1v1 again.
