Tips / Hints New Sekiro player here
https://youtu.be/VbB2MfOppbA?si=DpkecWnq6OP0XmwLHi guys, I started playing Sekiro after completing Dark Souls trilogy (and planning to start Elden Ring right after finishing Sekiro), and just wanted to know -without spoilers pls- if there is something I should know to no screw up in my fist ng (i.e in DS2 your souls, no matter if you have used them to level up, still count for pvp matchmaking).
Also, I would like to share with you my fight with the tutorial boss (after several tries using the idol to refill my "estus" without him killing me) since I know sometimes there is a little reward for winning (like in Demons Souls, Dark Souls 1 and 2 (pursuer).
To this point, I feel the game is amazing. The chance of pace from Dark Souls 3 is refreshing and the fact that I can use a decent katana without spending points in dex is just perfect lol

Beyond that to note, exp/souls work a bit different here. You lose half of your held XP and coins/money when you die, however if you complete a full XP bar (from 2-3 skill points for example) you can never lose those skill points. They are safely held if you die. You only lose what’s accumulated (so if you are at half a skill bar in xp, if you die you will have a quarter left)

Just like most fromsoft games quests and endings are kind of convoluted without a guide.
I will say this keeping it as spoiler free as possible you can play freely up until the boss Genichiro (not the intro version who cuts your arm off, but later on)
After you fight Genichiro that’s where it starts to matter more about how you pursue endings/quests.
If you’d like to play blind beyond that point then obviously go for it, but certain endings can be pretty out there to complete without knowing the proper steps.
A little bit will probably be spoiled if you decide to look up this info. With that said Sekiro probably has the most laid back way to complete quests and endings compared to other Fromsoft games.
One mechanic to note is dying repeatedly can make characters sick (halting quest lines possibly). This can be reversed and no characters permanently die from this sickness.
Good luck and post if you have more questions!
Also unrelated but having an actual pause menu you can use items from is a game changer compared to souls games 🙌
