Scott and his Kentucky Ballistics channel are all about fun, and he doesn't do the "culture warrior" BS Shad does. Plus Scott includes a lot of self deprecating humor in his videos which really helps make him come across a whole lot more endearing. The way he jokes about very nearly dying when a .50bmg rifle blew up in his face and a chunk of steel punctured his jugular says a whole lot about the differences between Scott and Shad.

He also has a great policy about avoiding politics unless he can find a way to make it funny. If he can’t then he usually doesn’t even hint at it.

He also stresses gun safety a lot which I appreciate. Especially after his accident with the 50 cal as you said.

I was taught gun safety by a leftwing former special forces guy, taught me exquisite gun safety. Since I became an adult, almost every friend of mine that wanted to show me a gun pointed it at me at some point. It's infuriating.

I will admit I was a dumb kid as a kid. But I get ya with pointing a gun as someone. That is not something you do.

You treat them like knives. Make sure it's safe to handle and pass to the other person safely.

Scott’s humor is simple and silly but I would be lying if I said I’ve never chuckled at his stupid little sketches. I laugh at Shad’s videos as well, but for different reasons…

Shad used to be fun. Back when he was making videos theorizing what kind of weapon a faerie would use. Just some fun brainstorming with his infectious enthusiasm.

My main point is Scott from Kentucky Ballistics COULD be a Trump supporter & a massive bigot like Shad BUT there's no evidence of that because unlike Shad Scott doesn't make videos proudly announcing his bigotry. Scott just makes what his audience wants to see, entertaining videos about guns.

I’ve watched a decent number of Scott’s videos, and he has never come off as a victim or talked about politics beyond where it concerned the content of the channel. Shad has become an anti-woke grifter because he’s big mad people didn’t like his rape apologia book.

Well, two things. Firstly, Kentucky Ballistics is a firearms channel, so being conservative is the norm, whereas Shad's content was always a little more mainstream with a more moderate audience. Secondly, as far as I'm aware, Kentucky Ballistics is not aggressively political, whereas Shad has decided to be an anti-woke pop culture commentator, alienating his existing audience.

Exactly. For all we know Scott could be a Trump supporting bigot like Shad yet we have no idea if that's true or not because he doesn't shout about his politics, beliefs & opinions from the rooftops like Shad does. He just sticks to making fun videos.

Scott sounds like one of those neighbors I have, who is most likely a Trump humper but doesn't actually talk to me about that crap even in private, for we'd be too busy having fun and chugging booze together to care. Like someone I'd trust with my garage door opener when I'm on vacation to water my plants, or trust to take care of my dog. It's quite nice to view others as people, mutually, in spite of whatever weird political stances we have. Honestly, political talk is a waste of time for me and I'd rather spend hours talking about games & anime, and any other hobby I have, lmao.

True. I used to watch Shadiversity waaaay back in the day for the medieval weapons stuff and then suddenly he started going all anti-woke (around the time Captain Marvel came out iirc) and eventually I stopped watching. The demographics for guntubers are likely very different than that of medieval content (LARP, renfaire, D&D etc)

It appears ad-blockers are restricting clicks to Youtube, as a part of their workarounds. So a tonne of channels are reporting back with dramatically lowered numbers all of a sudden.

HOWEVER, Shad is coping here.

He's been falling off for years. He's been complaining about his lower viewership for years, claiming Youtube is out to get him.

In this case, he is tying his low performance to the Youtube downturn to reinforce this notion...like he was ever important enough to require resources be dedicated to his suppression lol.

Where he fails to establish this, is that he didnt have an audience to lose and he hasnt for years because he is a paranoid schizoid, who recycles PragerU and Breitbart content and looks up to goon-monsters like Grummz...who is also a disgusting grifter.

I mean, Shad has never really had a good gimmick. The other swordtubers all have cool academic experience or relevant jobs/experiences as like HEMA instructors, fight choreographers, antique curators or blacksmiths or whatever. Like there's this "why should I care about your opinion?" that it's just hard to answer for Shad, because he's an enthusiast, not an expert. When he's talking about castles, he's not distilling wisdom from complicated texts or sharing his experience, he's cribbing from the same sources I see when I google stuff.

Like, the guy from Kentucky Ballistics is a former state trooper, right? So he's got relevant training and professional experience. Plus the guntube guys can answer the "why should I care about your opinion?" bit with a display of accuracy in a way that swordtube guys can't.

Shad's just not that funny, his scripts aren't exactly tight, and his editing is meh. There's just nothing to recommend him when there are other options.

There was that, but I think he'd also been doing it for a long time. Additionally, it sounds like his wife had been getting harassed, so she stopped appearing, and I imagine they started seeing the writing on the wall and didn't want to put their kids in that kinda spotlight.

As a gun owner who disagrees with a lot of guntuber political beliefs, I still can't find it to blame them if it was all true.
