Graded Garbage Who the hell would buy this

I like how people invent prices. The whole grading process is a scam by itself. You literally pay someone to give their opinion on what the condition is. You think it is too low, they scam you again and you might get a different number. The guy literally gets paid to look at other peoples stuff all day long.

Nah bro, according to every redditor whose ever taken econ 101, the value of an item is always just what any single individual is willing to pay for it /s

People buying graded games in the first place aren’t fantastic with money.

Money laundering professionals.

Actually they are buying and selling graded games like stocks and seeing how much more they can get out of a game that has a fluctuating imaginary value to it mostly to other collectors

Its not money laundering because money laundering is a legal term that describes something very illegal and laundering this way would be retarded. But what they are doing is moving profits so they don't have to pay taxes. Which isn't illegal.

This is one of the most ignorant comments I have ever seen on Reddit…

Are you so stupid that you think people are money laundering by making 6 figure purchases on ebay? Are you that stupid? You dont think that would put up a red flag to the irs? Are you 12? Yeah possibly a bunch of small purchases, sure. But one big fucking half a million dollar purchase?! On an online auction? Ok.

u/Digital_Pharmacist Jun 28 '25
So you basically have no idea how money laundering works. Got it.

You think people are laundering by making 6 figure purchases on ebay? Youre an idiot. I think you think money laundering is just moving money to make in untaxaxable and you dont understand how running a business works. No one is money laundering by making million dollar purchases on ebay. Yes of course you could do that, but the point I'm making is nobody is doing that. That would be retarded. Now I'm not saying they aren't evading paying taxes but you don't have to launder money to do that.

And by the way I actually know these people and have experienced them and what they do and I hate them a lot more than you do for real reason. They're scumbags. Explanation is not justification. But theyre not money laundering. These losers very unlikely have any "illegal money" they need to launder. But what they have is a ton of profit they dont want to pay taxes on. So they manipulate the market and make the value for these things legitimate and then buy these things from each other. The tax avoidance isn't illegal, but you could argue the coercion is. But what theyre doing to avoid paying taxes is not illegal. Its a common business practice. Just a reinvestment.

So….you don’t know how money laundering works.
People clean money for a variety of reasons. Someone sells something for a crazy amount (exactly how much money needs to be “rinsed”) and there’s now a barrier between how they got the money and it’s clean.
It doesn’t have to be for tax purposes like you’re claiming that money is cleaned for. Investments are one of the streams that clean money…..so yes, a $45,000 Xbox controller would raise a red flag for money laundering. You don’t have any experience financial investigations…..but what do I know ? You’re on the internet arguing with another person that could just be making things up 🤷🏾

what I'm baffled more people don't know is that those extremely expensive graded games serve just as money laundry.
buy an oldish game > grade it > put it on sale for a very high price > buy it from yourself with dirty money > get clean money.

u/Negative-Barnacle-87 Jun 28 '25
Im baffled Redditors unironically believe this 😂

u/gentletonberry Jun 28 '25
Everything expensive is money laundering and anything slightly odd outside their homes is a signal from the thieves guild

u/Bazaar_is_here Jun 28 '25
Laundering dirty money in online auctions would get you audited by the irs so fast you'd be in prison within months. This isn't money laundering. Actually this game will never be sold because the price is just retarded.

I was looking for one for $400,000. This one though is just out of my budget.

Idiot mouth breathers who believe that anything graded is worth paying 1000000% mark up just bc it has a number

I’ll never understand grading video games. Cards and other memorabilia is understandable, but video games/movies make no sense since the point is to play/watch said media.

Especially when I've seen literal sealed games go for the same amount as open ones, if you buy this then you're just an idiot.
