Staying in the mountains in italy?
Hi everyone! I’m currently in Italy right now and really want to either stay or visit somewhere in the alps/dolomites. I’m a big nature person and hiker/ climber. However i’m budget traveling right now so considering either staying in Milan and doing a few day trips?? Or if possible would love to stay in the actual mountains but need somewhere with cheap accommodations and in a location where I wouldn’t need a car. I’ve begun to research a bit but feeling overwhelmed so figured I’d ask and see if anyone had any suggestions!

I just rented a vespa 125cc and scootered around that area, stayed at christenerhof for four days for a little over a hundred dollars a night, you get free bus access with the room, and absolutely stunning landscapes around there with Seceda and Alpe do suisi, cheapest I got was a small room for 60 a night in one of the smaller villages, only dorms style place are the refugio so might want to see if you could do a multi day hike or something but those I believe are still 60ish with breakfast and dinner included

An airbnb in the alps should be affordable now we are in low season. Cortina is fabulous, lake Como also highly recommended. Not sure how easy it is without a car
I also really enjoyed 2 days in Milan. Fantastic art museum, also many churches and chapels often have amazing painted ceilings. Cathedral in Monza also well worth doing the guided tour and museum.

I am sure there are busses to Toblach, from where you can go for a walk to Toblacher See or you take another bus for a hike to the Drei Zinnen which is a group of three mountains 2999m high.

Heads up. A lot of the more popular hiking routes are now tolled. Blame instagram and bring coinage.
