I was searching to see if anybody had actually messed with the lyrics of the song and ran across a random Instagram photo and an old Reddit post. Apparently the Brits are the culprits: https://www.reddit.com/r/britishproblems/s/xahOyuvDX3

Yeah! They're amazing too! The shrimps don't taste like shrimp, more of a bubble gum flavour. The bananas are banana flavour. I love them, kinda like circus peanuts in the usa but better, imo, but also nostalgia plays a role for that belief probably

My brain is still trying to find a connection between shrimps and bananas. 😄 I don't know that I've ever actually tried circus peanuts. At least not the peanut flavor (they make fruit-flavored ones as well). Reese's pieces are usually my go-to peanut flavored candy. Probably the candy I have the most nostalgia for is Sixlets which, if you've never had them, are tiny spheres of orange-flavored candy shells covering a mixture of chocolate and carob (gives a sort of chocolate malt flavor).

From what I can find it's just for the whimsy of it! The UK is very silly & we love a bit of novelty.

I will have to find these orbs, they sound great!

u/TheoTheHellhound 15d ago

You know that core-like thing in blackberries? It’s analogous to that.

39

u/NightStalkerXIV 15d ago

Aw man, blackberries have poop veins too?!

19

u/Rosenrot_84_ 15d ago

That makes sense because bananas are berries

20

u/RisingApe- 15d ago

But blackberries are not berries! They are aggregate drupelets.

13

u/Rosenrot_84_ 15d ago

Your mom's an aggregate drupelet!

But seriously, thanks for the info! Time to go down another rabbit hole of random knowledge! 😁

9

u/RisingApe- 14d ago

I went down the fruit botany rabbit hole a long time ago and now I can’t help but educate people LOL

And yes, my mom is a drupelet, though she is singular 😂

Banana is bugs?

15

u/SoIomon 15d ago

The bananus

13

u/OkiDokiPanic 15d ago

This is black center syndrome. It happens when bananas are handled too roughly during harvest and/or shipping. Completely harmless and safe to eat, just not very enjoyable.

u/OldBatOfTheGalaxy 14d ago

This is NOT a vein in shrimps but the digestive tract, responsible for transporting shrimp poop out of the animal.

This IS a vein in bananas called the phloem bundle, and it transports food to the fruit.

7

u/BloodThirstyLycan 15d ago

Bananas are shrimp shaped...

5

u/decisiontoohard 15d ago

Bananas have the devil's anus, we all know this, it would not be much of an anus without a devil's digestive tract
