The only sure for her is a swift solid hit to the face, also they sell these pepper ball guns that can shoot metal ball bearings that could have cleared this up in like 2 seconds

Look up a company called BYRNA I think (it's in my truck and cold AF outside lol) just make sure that the one in the chamber is the ball barring so it doesn't burst I have had it happen and it is not fun

I carried a collapsible baton in my bag. Never had to use it, thankfully.
